Next collab we need to settle on a BPM before we start, too, to make stitching things together easier.
Lots of great stuff in this thread. I bet the dozen or so of us could make a whole album together that'd be great to trip to.
I'd certainly be down to pump out a whole bunch of loops/phrases for such a thing!

I'm down to have a bit more input into this. I agree tho we need to set more parameters for it. We could write an awesome album

I kinda like the idea of releasing like a compilation album of a bunch of tracks
At least for the first one. Just put a .zip on megaupload and spread it around

I'm not usually one for organization but if we want to undertake such a task, we'll need a bit of it to make a shroomery album happen.
We could have everyone write a couple of melodic phrases, a couple of harmonic phrases, and a couple of drum beats, etc. and then Akira Akuma can get really baked and decide how to put which pieces together.

Well that was my intent when I first came up with the idea, and still how I think this first one should be since right now we have a mix of full compositions and solo instruments.
What key and BPM should our first collaborative track be in?

I'm gonna suggest E minor/e major. Or either B.
Tempo I can work with whatever
I like the 88-140 range most though

I haven't worked with any of those keys, but I've always liked the sound of an E minor chord, so let's go with that one.
As far as tempo goes, how about 114?
I have to be quiet tonight so I'll get on making my contributions tomorrow.
Besides, I wanna see what Akira Akuma does with the first collab.

All you need is a metronome, pfxtc
114 is fine, I like that spot. So 114 in the key of E-minor? And I'm writing just general phrases that can be meshed together with everyone elses?

I'm sure Akira or Propensity or whoever's in charge of mixing the tracks together can work with whatever ya got, but the BPM guideline is helpful so a good portion of the pieces fit together seamlessly.

Just come up with a handful of phrases. The more we have, the more interesting things our mixer can do with them once they're put together.
I'm going to write a bunch of phrases and put them on one track in Reason so I don't have to upload 8 tiny little files.

I agree we should have a bpm set, although every peice does not have to be of that.
I Like the idea of picking an instrument then making three minutes or whatever of sound, then having a grandmaster mix everyones instruments together.
Setlle on bpm, everybody think 112 is good? Settle on a key, AYE sounds good. Then pick an instrument and wave and wobble and notate and phrase all up and down the block
