hi, this is my first post on here, how ever ive been looking and soaking up all the good info here over the past month
a friend finally got all the materials they need to start grow but there are a few things they arent sure about
1. the spore they ordered from a website which actually came is called an equador spore... not an ecuador spore. are they the same thing?
2. they are going to make pf cakes but then place 6 or so in an oven bake foil tray (the disposable ones) and place casing around them, and covering them. the casing consists of peatmoss, verm and also some calcium carbonate. is this ok?, and also if that was to happen, would a shotgun fruiting chamber be ok, or a monotub?
absolutly any information would be good, and i look forward to becoming a part in this forum.

1. Yea, they are the same thing, just different spelling.
2. First, mushroom metabolites eat through aluminum, so you can't really use it for trays. If you are making pf cakes, people usually fruit them in a terrarium- style setup called the shotgun fruiting chamber, abbreviated SGFC. You could also use the monotub, or bulk, method where you break up your cakes, mix them with pasteurized substrate and fruit them in a monotub, but that method is more complicated. I started with monotubs and it's not impossible to do, but pf cakes are much simpler. Watch the videos about the different methods here http://www.mushroomvideos.com/ and read the forums and grow logs about the two methods (shotgun fruiting chamber and monotub/bulk) and you'll get a better understanding of the process. It usually takes a lot of reading before you get a successful grow.

Yes. Don't get creative on your first grow, follow a proven tek for success. Each day/week people do strange things deviating from the teks for their first grows and it turns into a tech support troubleshooting issue every time. Everything from using the wrong sized jars, to substituting ingredients, to not dunking and rolling...whatever people can do wrong, they do, and it never works out well for them.
Once you get a few normal grows under your belt and understand things better, then you can start experimenting. I mean, you can experiment to begin with, but I doubt it will turn out the way you expect.
