Polytubing bags for oyster cultivation

So as per this thread: http://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/13466256/fpart/1/vc/1 I have been searching around for polytubing. Found a pretty decently priced (like much less expensive than buying from say uline.com) source that is selling 6 mil 18" X 500' of pink anti static polytubing. I did a little researching to see just what this anti static tubing is for and found some other sources who sell both anti static tubing and "amine" free anti static tubing. This sparked a little worry in me, as anyone selling something that is "free" of something makes me think harmful chemicals. Anyone know anything at all about this? Seems amines can be toxic depending on what type of amine... Would this not be a good choice of bag to use for growing mushrooms? Trying to save as much money as possible on polytubing but if it means sketchy chemicals than I guess I should pay more for the safer shit. Thanks for any help anyone might have.

You want 4mil clear plastic tubing, 18 inches width max (makes a 10.5 inch diameter log).
I highly recommend the poly tubing from international plastics. It has a slight texture to the plastic for better grip and its tough and holds its shape well.

There are three major classes of internal, migratory antistatic agents: esters, amines and amides. Glycerol mono-stearate is commonly used as an antistatic agent for PE and PP but is useful for only short term antistatic performance of about 1-2 months. The amines and amides are usually ethoxylated products and are more useful for long term antistatic performance. The amine type antistats tend to react with polycarbonate, which is commonly used in making electronic circuit boards. Hence a plastic packaging containing amine antistat is detrimental to electronic circuit boards. The amine antistats have limited FDA approval. However, the amines are extremely effective as antistatic agents. The amides also have limited FDA approval but broader than the amine antistats. The esters, on the other hand, are FDA approved at any level of concentration.
They are essentially saying that the antistatic properties of the tubing are not made using amines, which have limited FDA approval.
It would work, and shouldn't be harmful, and to the contrary more safe than another product that used amines.

Wow, thanks, that was very helpful. I don't know yet if the source I found is in fact "amine" free, but I have contacted them and hopefully they will get back to me. If it is not amine free, I guess I'll go with non anti static polytubing. Thanks again.

I just got a roll (20" by 750') from U-line of clear polyethylene tubing for 130 bucks plus shipping. It's 4 mil as Buckeye recommends, but they have other thicknesses as well. 4 mil is tough enough to keep from puncturing, but I guess you could get by with 3. I prefer the larger bags because I'm doing 20 pounds blocks (wet weight). Just goggle U-line.com and look up "tubing" in their search function- they've got lots to chose from.

So, looks like the bags I found are not amine free. Looks like I won't be going with those. That roll was going to be around 90 bucks including shipping though, which to me was much more economical.
