Haha.
Yah, man. 85g for a cake, not bad.
Just wonderin, do you always do only 1 cake per grow?
No, I usually do 5 cakes per batch, but now I'm gonna move to 1/4 pint jars (from 1/2 pint jars), so maybe I'll double that.

looks like you got most all you pins at the bottom due to the lack of verm, but still 85g wet is pretty decent for a cake.
Swim has some cambo cakes going also. A few are fruiting currently. I was wondering what made you decide to harvest

I prefer to harvest them young unless I'm going to make prints.

I can't help wondering why my Cambodians always gets so blue when they are dried. None of my other Cubes shows as nearly much bruising as the Cambos.

Yes, dunking and rolling really makes a difference. That's for sure.

Its funny because i see the difference between your 1st and 2nd flush and its apparent the 2nd flush is doing much better. I'm actually having the exact same results with some cambos currently.

Usually that is an indication that your cakes were dry on the first flush.
So, yea... dunking and rolling does make a big difference.
You dunk to hydrate, roll to bind verm to the surface which in turn traps moisture when you mist, allowing a water supply to the surface of the cakes where pins form. One of a fruiting mushroom bodies key necessities. H2O.

I never mist and I am quite surprised I got nearly 90 grams of fresh shrooms from the first flush. I didn't dunk or roll and still it fruited pretty well.

That is because you had a cake that retain moisture well, this is not always the case. Even then you would have likely had a better yield if you dunked......

Of course, you're right. I was afraid that the rye wouldn't even get colonized because it was so wet when I inoculated it and it took forever for it to colonize. I would definitely have gotten a better first flush if I had dunked and rolled from start. Or if I misted for that matter.
