Cambodian Cubensis on pure rye cake (pics)
    #14155373 - 03/20/11 06:44 PM (12 years, 10 months ago)

I decided to fruit this cake without even rolling in vermiculite
as I usually do with my cakes. I have been very unattentive
this time and haven't almost fanned at all. Which could partly
explain the bad pinning. Maybe the second flush will be better.

I should probably have dunked and rolled,
but out of curiousity I skipped it this time.
I could do it on the second flush.

Remember, dude. Curiosity killed the cat.

I checked out some of your other grows, and you've definitely improved from when you first started. I'm thinking you're ready for some trays or a monotub grow.

This cake at the moment is by far
the worst grow I have done.

I will try bulk at some other time,
I need to eat up my stash before.

I didn't dunk this cake but yeah, I think it makes difference.
Vermiculite is really recommended, I think it's more effective
than just dunking. I've had cakes where I just rolled the cake on
wet vermiculite and the results where much better than the cake this
thread is about.

This cake was never dunked but I did however roll
it in wet vermiculite and as you can see, at least it
pinned good.

Well, I wouldn't call it dumb. But
from my limited experiences vermiculite
is essensial for this kind of cultivations.

Without perlite and vermiculite I would be
pretty much fucked.

I don't know what I was thinking (if I was thinking at all)
when I decided to fruit this cake. It was harder than usual
to pick the shrooms, lots of ingrown pins and I had to rip
off big chunks of the cake while picking. I will dunk and roll
it for the next flush. Surprisingly enough the first flush
weighted 85 grams.

That is one gnarly-lookin' mofo.  I'm really bad at harvesting those sorts of cakes without mangling and bruising it.

Haha.

Yah, man. 85g for a cake, not bad.

Just wonderin, do you always do only 1 cake per grow?

As I am just a beginner and don't feel
confident enough to do this on a bigger
scale. I'm playing around with 1-2 cakes
at a time.

You obviously have the confidence
that I lack of, or maybe that's
just a bad excuse. Great pics, I
would love to grow PE myself.
