Any ideas for a way to display dried mushrooms? I have about 10 species i've learned to ID in labeled 1/2 pints but i'd like something a little more pleasing to the eye to display them in, any ideas? I was thinking maybe something like the butterfly display cases that have them all pinned in there.

For dried mushrooms you could make paper weights. If you go the the hobby store they sell molds and a resin. Put the mushroom in the mold and pour the resin in. You may have to pour in 2 stages so the mushrooms do not float or sink. I am sure you could do other things with the resin besides paper weights. It would be a fun idea. I did this a while back with fresh mushrooms and it tends to cook them a little because of the heat.

Dry them REALLY well - and place in little plastic display boxes - add some gems or some cool wood too - look REALLY neat ive had little collections like that that ive had for the last 6yrs Also little coin cardboard pouches ( with the plastic bubble centers) are another good way to preserve and yet display dry samples!!!! When your done lets SEE YOUR DISPLAY

I like both ideas. I'd like to try out both but what do you mean by little plastic display boxes? Where do you get little ones all the ones i've seen are waaay too big.

A friend of mine got me a plaque (about 6"x9") that hangs on the wall that she found in a thrift shop. It's a board that's painted with a background with small, dried, thinly-sliced button mushrooms and small pieces of fern and dried plants and such laminated on the front to form a landscape-type picture. It's quite cool actually. Nothin fancy, but well done. This technique (maybe even with spore prints) seemed like a fun thing to do and the possibilities seem almost endless.
