4 days and no germination.

I just started 5 brf jars 4 days ago. This is my first time trying to culitvate. I got my spores from ralphsters about a month ago, but didnt have vermiculite til last week. It was freezing outside when I got the spores in the mail, but the liquid was not frozen when I opened it. I kept them in a cool dark place for the entire time until inoculation, and I still see no germination. Is this a problem or am I just being impatient?
P.S. I see/smell no signs of contamination.

you're being impatient, it can take upto 2 weeks before you see first signs of growth.

By germination i guess you mean "colonization". 4 days is too early to tell, give a a week or 2 to see any signs. I inoculated 10 pf tek jars about a week ago and i saw signs 7 days later. Just gonna have to waited out bro. What strain you inoculated?

Put your jars away and don't look at them for ten full days.

The strain is A+ Right now my thermostat is set to 68 but the room I have them in is closest to the furnace so it gets considerably warmer in there.

Temperature probably isn't an issue as long as it's 68F or higher. Just wait, spores are very slow sometimes.

Okay thanks guys.. Also, I'm going to be building a shotgun terrarium with perlite as a humidifier. Only thing is that I've got miracle grow perlite with added fertalizer. Is this an issue? I was thinking maybe I could throw it in the bathtub with some hot water and dish soap to wash the fertalizer off, then rinse a couple of times before use.

It's fine, use it like normal. Small and expensive but won't cause troubles.

I'm using a 13 watt cfl bulb for lighting. Am I supposed to light it during colonization or am I supposed to wait until fruiting? And also will having the lamp too close to the jars get them too hot and kill the spores?
Also I ground up my brown rice in a coffee grinder myself but it was still kind of coarse. Kind of a sand like texture. Might this inhibit growth at all?

I stand by my advice from upthread:

Ok to start new jars, but stop messing with these.

Every time you touch a jar, tip a jar, breathe on a jar, handle a jar, shed skin cells near a jar, you risk contamination and failure.
Put your jars away, don't mess with them for ten days.

Right I get it, will do. But that still doesnt answer my question, I can just sit them away in the dark for ten days, they dont need any light?

nvm looked around, found my answer :] I'll post back in 10 days or so and let you guys know how they're doing.. Until then I think I'll start a few more jars.
I read somewhere if you prepare jars and let them sit for 24 hours before steralizing, then hard to kill bacterial endospores will start to grow, thus making them easier to kill and making for a better sterilization. And also I read it doesnt hurt to steralize twice. What are your guys thoughts on this?

That applies to grains, specifically wild bird seed, and that's the 24 hour soak. Germinate the endospores then nuke them in the PC. With BRF this doesn't count, there's really nothing to soak.
