Without the Mayan prophesy, I wouldn't have made it to Wal-Mart on time!

I almost hear Hank Hill asking, "what part about total transformation of humanity don't you understand, Bobby?"

People have a fetish with eschatology and end-of-world drama. It's as intrinsic to humanity as violence.
But more rampant I believe is sheer stupidity.

I predict the end of the world in less than 6 billion years. Something to do with things heating up. I'm willing to put money on it so you can tell I'm not full of bs.

the end of the world occurs every day and every day the world begins again.
fear of the end is fear of the unknown.

And besides, this body is a fucking carbon molecule, what chance does it have against world-ending matters?

Is that based on the theory that the sun is at its half life of about 5 billion years right now?

Yes lol
What else would it be based on
I highly doubt that the world is just gonna randomly blow itself up one day, although we have been having a lot of natural disasters recently.
Other people talk about an "enlightened society" in 2012/the remaking of the gregorian calender and other such things, and I guess we will just have to wait and see. The Mayans were pretty smart dudes though, with their geometry and maths and such. Would rather a fully enlightened society than an apocalypse though. As would most people lol.

I'm just making sure. Assuming only makes an ass out of u and me. I agree, although there are many other factors that could come into play. If we just agree that we're in the boondocks of the universe/gravity and we won't be fucked by any major space explosions/black holes, I think the human race on its current path could easily fuck it up for everyone.
Or Yellowstone.
