Bombs over Tripoli [Libya]
    #14153706 - 03/20/11 12:53 PM (12 years, 10 months ago)

What do you think?

Is America trying to start World War III ?

If so, why? and how is it being instigated?

Not WWIII. I like the fact that the international community is giving a message that you cannot shoot protesters so openly without consequence. I don't want America to wind up getting heavily engaged in Lybia though, unless it is accompanied by a heavy, heavy reduction of operations in Afghanistan and Iraq.

...unless you hold power in Yemen or Bahrain.

It's just more hypocritical foreign policy.

It is unrealistic to expect an international military response on three fronts. Lybia's revolution is dominating the world's attention, thus they receive the response. However after this is all over, I would expect attention to shift to Bahrain and Yemen.

Does anyone really know whats going in in the country, or are you all assuming things based on the angles they feed you in the news? This isnt about there freedom The Libyan people have it well as much as the western media would like to lead you to believe.

The thing is, whenever they talk aboiut it, they reallyreally stress the point that they are on the protesters side and they are showing everyone that they would never hurt innocent people. It seems like theyre either trying to build up their support and look better than they really are or they are trying to get the public on their side so they dont question other things that happen in the future.

or theyre actually just doing the right thing and enforcing a no fly zone because they dont want to see this asshole bomb the fuck out of his own people. I just cant hlep but think th U.S would do the exact same thing is they were in Khadafi's position. Put us all in camps and kill whoevers left..

This could end up being Bagdad all over again, and there obviously sending a message to China and Russia by going through with it anyway. This whole situation seems sketchy as hell.

My brain tells me this is nothing but a short-lived "peace keeping" action.

My heart tells me this is the start of WWIII.

It's pretty simple:

1)Stop genocide
2)Kill Ghadaffi, put democratic rebels into place
3)Profit 'cause you're now good friends with the guys who have a lot of oil
4)Super-bonus: send a message to all the other fuckheads that are destabilizing the worlds oil-producing regions

...that's how I see it...

That's a nice point. Once the rebels are in charge those precious oil reserves that Gaddafi has kept from the West for so long start trickling our way.
