Concern with my Liquid Cultures...

kinda bumpin this from the contam form.. cuz technically, I don't even know if its a contam or not!
Insight anyone?
Anyone ever come across this with there LCs??
It looks like mycelium growth on the top of the water... it seems to grow onto the sides a lot, and then there's like little islands of white on top...
Tek used: Dextrose and Extra Light Malt Extract (both dry) its goin on 3 weeks or so now...
sorry for the blurry-ish pics... but LCs are IMPOSSIBLE to get good pics of!! haha :P

not FAE
GE,
fae is fresh air exchange , and ge is gas exchange,
usually you got floaters with mycelium or contams, you dont need light, and heat just room temp
dont make it complicated , its easy

Floating fuzzy myc is almost always bad. Leave it alone and it'll turn green.

'little' floaters. Not brilliantly white patches of fuzz. That turn green in three days.

True enough.
Got pics of fuzzy floaters in healthy LC?
Because mine tend to settle:

ahh, i meant GE, but yeah... it is simple... i just got REALLY lazy in typing haha sorry about that. totally unacceptable on my part!!
@doc - yeah, the white patches on top are connected to the huge bottom cloud... its like an upside down lookin tornado... where the white island is the point of the tornado... so while its stiring, the whole bottom is rotating and spiraling to a point where it meets the white stuff on top of the water... so should I use these LCs asap? before it turns green? or just wait it out... jars are like 30% cloud...

ahh, i cant shake, otherwise I would... I have stir rods in all the jars! and its soooo thick on the bottom that i cant even vortex them :\ just stir um... I've been stirring ALL day tho trying to get them to go back in that water haha

Yay!! My first LC's look like this. =) I was worried that it was some sort of contaminant as it didn't look like the mycelium that grew in my jars! Thanks for the pic.

IMO: Its a contamination.

it looks like the 'mold' that grows if you leave a flat beer in a cup on the shelf for too long. This 'mold' specially stays on the surface and attaches to the walls and if you try to poke it and submerge it, it will come back to float.

I prefer to use Honey-Water and personally I'm quite happy with results (and pictures). I recommend giving it a go...
Good luck with future LC's!

I think you gotta just try to colonize something with it...you'll know right quick if it is contam or not but it doesn't look like any healthy LC I've seen but
