Now that I agree with. In about two months it will be comfy in the northern high desert.
Two months from now would be lovely up here if I had any way to get out of the goddamn city. My only real option is a friend of hitchhiking.
What's Oregon like in November?

It's getting cold in November. Nothing like Canada however. Sept and Oct can be wonderful and May and June. It gets hot in the summer but the desert mountains are great in summer.

I've been losing myself lately, falling into the traps of the norm. Caring about such trivial matters as work and bills and catching myself gossiping about crap I have no interest in. It grosses me out to find myself like this. I've been on the outside looking in at the lunacy --or so it has felt-- for some time, and to think of assimilating into such ignorant suffering. Ugh. I've been trapped in my city for almost two years, I need to get out into the wilderness. People are succeeding in my corruption. /rant
Damn man, that gave me goosebumps, well done. I feel literally the exact same way.
I think I will get a hennessy hammock and take a month off just living from mother earth, to be independent of my material possessions. Any longer than a month though would probably be to much, and I need to go back to school anyways.

It's always good to know a little bit about life outside of the society. I suggest survival courses. The best and most fun five weeks I ever spent.

Yeah me too, I just never seem to follow through. Not to mention the solitude would probably be very enlightening.

Exactly! It's such a useful skill, it prepares you for so many situations. With 2012 right around the corner you can never be too careful I kid.

About how much would one of these courses cost me? I assume it was a camping type deal?

This was many years ago on Oregon's High Desert and based on Paiute Indian desert survival. The cost around $500 but I'd expect at least a grand now. Afterward I spent most of the summer on my own in the desert canyons.

"I discovered for myself and by myself that there is no self to realize—that's the realization I am talking about. It comes as a shattering blow. It hits you like a thunderbolt. You have invested everything in one basket, self-realization, and, in the end, suddenly you discover that there is no self to discover, no self to realize—and you say to yourself, "What the hell have I been doing all of my life?!" That blasts you."
"They are all liars, fops, fakes and cheaters in the world, who claim they have searched for and told the truth! Alright, you want to find out for yourself what this truth is. Can you find out? Can you capture the truth and hold it and say, "This is truth?" Whether you accept or reject, it's the same: It depends on your personal prejudices and predilections. So if you want to discover the truth for yourself, whatever it is, you are not in a position to either accept or reject. You assume that there is such a thing as truth, you assume that there is such a thing as reality (ultimate or otherwise)—it is that assumption that is creating the problem, the suffering, for you."

Don't project your depressive stuff onto me. I'm into consecrating my life, not despairing unto death. And to think, I learned this from a cartoon when I was very young
