description of mushrooms that have stumped me for a long time

I was mush less experienced then than now and I thought they resembled cyanescens but were a bit larger, and not in the right habitat, the stems were not white either, so I quickly realized they weren't...but I have wondered about these since I found them, they covered the cow field, not in groups but scattered alllll over and sadly I was not a member of shroomery.org at the time. I tried very hard (and still try) to know at least the genus of the damn things but no luck thus far.
Habitat: growing in a cow field in mid fall, not on dung but near it, in manure enriched soil
Gills: a lighter shade of brown, buff brown maybe, the spores were rusty brown,
Stem: the stem was very short in comparison to cap size, the flesh was tough, and it was hollow, in the largest the stem was less than an inch usually and didnt seem to exceed and inch, the stem was brown-buff brown in color
Cap: caps reached a couple inches in diameter at most, central umbo, and were wavy and uplifted at the margin, there was some color variation, some were very dark brown, some chestnut brown
Spore print color: rusty brown
Bruising: not obvious color change observed
They did look a little bit like this, since I dont have have pics, this is not what it was. Its been eating me up insde since fall when I saw them. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated so I can point my research in the right direction. If there is any more details I can include let me know. Thank you all!

I shall add that I tasted these and it was rather mild, not good, not bad, not distinctive.

they also looked a little like conocybe tenera...the stems were kind of stalky but not very wide by any means, just short, hollow, and it would break apart legth-wise. I dont mean to bother everyone but I would just like to get some direction.

No one is angry with ya, it's just that without photos people can only guess. Also, when a photo that isn't what you found is substituted it tends to make things worse, you should see what some people think look alike.
That said, your description is pretty good but I don't anyone could do more than guess the genus.

Simmer down, no one here owes you anything
People don't like to speculate IDs much without some type of "truth," like a picture we can see for ourselves, not something that is filtered through your perception

I posted a description of a mushroom I found that I was curious about, sorry there is no pictures of the mushroom. I have seen tons of partial descriptions and posts without pictures that you happily respond to so I dont see what the problem is with me asking for some kind of input. I described what I found as accurately as I could and its annoying to get accused of making things up when im just trying to use this as resource to understand the mushrooms I come across. There is no reason for me to make shit up about what I find. Thats stupid.

And I never said anything about you owing me anything. mush lol. I gave you the color of the spore print and other details that should be helpful and if its not move on. If you are familiar with something that sounds similar say something. Simple stuff.

All that the people here are saying is that it's hard to make a good I.d with the info provided. Sometimes that's the way it is, and yes, it can be frustrating. Like what Thinker said, people don't like to speculate on i.d's. Do you have a field guide that you can check? Sometimes it's a bit easier to ID yourself if you don't have pics, because you know exactly what it looks like. Chill out, and wait for a bit. Sometimes it takes a while for people to figure out something that fits the bill.
-------------------- Having lived through an existence close to nature, one accepts the small and simple things as most important in life. Sun, wind, rain and snow. The sounds birds make, smells of fresh wild flowers. Love of all kinds, from friends and family, thy self and our neighbors. Beautiful sunrises to the darkest clouds dancing above in the sky. To forgive, learn, share and express. This is the only thing a man such as myself can ask for. What comes as the result is nothing short of the core of human existence, to truly live free in body and mind.

Thats fine but dont be jerks in the process. I didnt say, identify my mushroom, I just wanted some kind of direction to look in. Thanks again Byrain! Your response was helpful however I originally forgot to include that the cap is smooth but not glutinous or slimy.

There's nothing wrong with your description, but there are a number of genera that could fit it. Sometimes it's not so easy to venture a guess.
Kel, I've been in this situation many times myself, and as frustrating as it is to hear, your best bet for knowledge about these is to go back to the spot again this fall around the same time. Often, in this hobby, dedication is the best route to understanding. I admire your curiosity.

Thank you BobZimmer. I completely understand how complicated mushroom identification is, especially without a picture. I will be there next fall. And every suggestion is helpful because I can eliminate possibilities and come closer to an id. Thank you for being nice to those of you that were.
