a hitchhikers guide to the galaxy

I'm thinking about drinking some mushroom tea tonight, and watching the movie, a hitchhikers guide to the galaxy. has anyone done this, or recomend this? I haven't even seen this movie, but it looks good for tripping. ( I like to watch movies I've never seen before while tripping, because it's like a new experience. )

if your planning on watching that 2005 remake version, let me just say that it is awful! douglas adams would be rolling in his grave if he could see that debauchery!
i highly recommend you watch the original 6 part BBC series from 1981 instead. its brilliant! ive tripped to it a few times and usually have near convulsive fits from laughing sooo hard.
the first episode is just laying the groundwork, and the second episode is where shit really gets hilarious. the series is near genius as far as i am concerned. this shit is made for tripping!

Wouldn't it be a new experience regardless of whether you are tripping or not, since it is a movie you have never seen before?
Anyway, have fun, I am sure it will be a great time , though I usually can't get into movies while tripping.
But you should read the book...it is hilarious, much better than the movie, which I didn't think was too bad. I have not listened to the radio show, but it sounds like I should.

I totally understand you guys recomending the book. I do like reading, some of my favorites being fear and loathing, doors of perception, on the road, and many more, I'll defintly look into hitchikers guide to the galaxy, but the thing is, like I said, I'm going to be shrooming, and I'm not sure if I can even maintain reading a sentence without the words falling off the page or scrambling up. that's why I wanna watch a movie, I looked for the 6 part version but I couldn't find it (I have a bunch of Microsoft points so I have a large variety of movies I can buy on my xbox) and I'll be stuck at home, I love to watch movies while solo tripping, aside from music, and lying down in the dark and what not

I wasn't suggesting you read it while tripping, haha, just in general...great book.

I had no clue there was an old series of it though. I'll have to find it to watch.

I believe before douglas adams died he had some say in that movie, so it's not like he would hate it or anything. The movie is very good, especially if you have not read the books. BUT after you read the books, you will see how much the movie was a let down. The BBC radio series, and BBC TV show was really good also. I would reccomend watching the movie tripping though

well thanks to you guys i went out to look for the book. and i found out that in my english class, i have to choose from a small but not that small variety. (theres hundreds of books, but out of all the books in the world, thats quite small.) well anyways, i found out that a hitchikers guide to the galaxy by douglas adams, is infact, on of those books. though im planning on making some shroom tea this weekend, i figured since i tend to get easily lost during movies while shrooming, i can read the first couple chapters before hand, and i will have a clue of whats going on so i dont totally not know whats happening.

haha. the island where they got slapped if they had an idea was hilarious. and the hyperspace thing was crazy. and then the part that blew my mind the most was more towards the ending. when he met the guy who creates planets, and he helped make earth, and had a backup earth. And recreated life. But all in all, the tea was a sucess, I'm defintly , for the most part, only using tea now. I couldn't taste any trace of shrooms, the only bad part was that I think I left the tea bag in for a little long, cause it tasted strong, and kind of like a tea bag rather than tea, idk if that makes sense, but I'm gunna try to get tea leaves next time. also I get nauseas easy, and I didn't at all from the tea.

"Holistic Detective Agency" I think. Then the "Dark tea Time of The Soul".
If you like those kind of books read the Disk World series by Terry Pratchet. Some miss but a lot of hit.
Also Neil Gaimen, American Gods Anansi Boys Coraline Good Omens (with Terry pratchet)
MirrorMask was pretty neat for a BBC show and also the movie Stardust (have not read either of those)
If you like grafic novels "The Sandman: Book of Dreams"

The hell, you eat mushroom and put on hours of robot chicken your face will hurt the next day from laughing. I mean if you just want to laugh. Over 5 grams though it becomes increasingly harder to focus in the TV

I can't focus on T.V. even with 2 grams... I wouldn't waste my trip watching T.V. That's the lamest thing I've ever heard. The only drug that works with T.V. is pot, the only time to watch T.V. is when you're stoned man.

well, thats like your opinion.
i actually really enjoy watching films while on shrooms. i get so focused on every detail, how each scene is layed out, and hang on every single word. i've been sucked in to the point that im not even aware of my own existence anymore. i've even dosed to plenty of subtitled movies and didnt miss a word.

I get a weird 3d effect that wrecks my depth perception.
Actually the times I really watched those shows was because of a fellow tripper...
Oddly the last time we all ate 7-8 grams I said no YV just crazy music.
Sphongle and that crazy visualization. The wife went 5, us two stayed at 4 and still get confused when we try and peice it all together.
To beery to start but it was needed for a "healing" sesssion if ya get what I mean.... and it worked, for a bit...

That's cool. For me, Reality and Fantasy almost reverse roles when I'm tripping... if I'm sitting there drinking a beer, smoking a cig and talking to people while I'm tripping, ya know, something real, I start to feel like I'm in a fantastically fictitious world... contrarily when I focus on something that is deliberately or obviously fantasy (Like when I tried to watch Lord of the rings on shrooms) it becomes painfully apparent to me that I'm watching actors and I can sense the film crew and director watching the scenes etc.

I absolutly love watching movies on shrooms, depending on the movie of course. Unlike most people (from what I've read here) who can't watch movies tripping cause they can see all the flaws in it, etc etc. I cannot, I just watch it for what it is plus some psychedelic/philosophical thought about it all, someone has to get what I mean. Though it is easy to get lost in them and forget what's happening in the movie
