No pins in the greenhouse?
    #14147412 - 03/19/11 08:09 AM (12 years, 10 months ago)

So I've experienced incredible success with monotubs and shotguns, but wanted to phase out all the shotguns and perlite, so I decided to give the greenhouse approach a try.  My room is a converted bathroom,
the greenhouse is the typical ebay variety, i have the standard walmart coolmist, on every other hour.  I have a digital hydrometer
(i know I'm ordering an analog)  and it reads 90-95% rh all the time.  It's been at least 10 days since I put these cakes in here.  When I open the zipper, it feels super humid.  I thought it might be low fae, so i opened the door near the intake on the humidifier to take in more fresh, with no difference.( I have 2" slits on every shelf side, along with a small vent hole in the top)  Air is brought into the room through a four foot high hepa/ionizer on gentle, pointed at the opening in the door.  You can feel the slight airflow inside the room.  Lighting is more than ample via two ballasts each with one daylight bulb, and one multi spectrum plant bulb.  I am fruiting monos, and a shotgun in the same room, and they are doing terrific.  Any advice on why these cakes are frozen in time?  The cakes are rye flour, ms, tex and pesh, and other cakes from the same run are fruiting fine in shotguns.

First, you have the wrong coolmist. Get the 40$ one at walmart without the filter. The filter will contam

Second, Cut two inch diameter holes in the top of the greenhouse. About four will do. One on each side. And put a fan in the room. You're not getting any FAE at all in there. Just cracking the door isn't enough.

Third, good call on the location of the greenhouse. That coolmist will create alot of water in the bottom and it looks like you got that covered.

Also, another factor depends on how long you let the cakes sit after full colonization. Try these things I mentioned above and let me know.

walgreens has the right cool mists for 20 bucks

Try opening your door to about just below the shelf above your cool mist (and get the flap out of the way hold it up with some tape or a clothes pin

All right, I'll return the coolmist, and get the right one today.  Also The airflow is actually pretty substantial in the room.  I'll make the air ports on the top, and crack the door a bit more when I replace the coolmist.
