"Third Eye" by TOOL was referred to by about five of my friends and I as the "mandatory" song, in that every time we smoked we had to listen to it at least once. Still one of my favorite songs ever.

What's wrong with mentioning one TOOL song? Especially when the song I've mentioned is "Third Eye"
Since from what I know of you from your posts has suggested to me that you're a well informed person, I assume you've listened to the song and that it's a matter of taste? If you haven't, I strongly recommend giving it a listen - especially in the altered state mentioned in this thread.
My intention - obviously, I hope - is not to demean or assault your taste in music, and it would be silly and juvenile to hold not liking TOOL against you - I don't. I don't even know that you don't necessarily like TOOL. That said, give "Third Eye" another chance - especially with the addition of THC - if only to be sure, once and for all, that it's not your cup of tea.
I won't pretend that I'm not a big fan of TOOL (and A Perfect Circle - and an enormous list of other bands there's no reason to list here), and I freely admit my bias - if bias is really the correct word. I'm picky about the music I listen to almost to a fault; that said, I know that what I like is thoughtfully composed, intricate, and compelling music. While the "compelling" part is obviously heavily influenced by opinion, I honestly think that anyone who listens to "Third Eye" without distraction and with an open mind will at least appreciate its intricacy - whether they "like" it or not.
As I've made clear, I'm a fan, and I thought it worth mentioning that several years ago a number of my friends - admittedly to my delight - named "Third Eye" the "mandatory song" (their words) that we'd listen to every time we indulged (largely due to the numerous "eargasms" the song was/is capable of causing - at least, among my friends and myself). I therefore hope you understand why dismissing any TOOL song outright compels me to post suggesting another listen. If you still don't like it, it's a matter of taste - of course - and only an unreasonable zealot would hold it against you for your opinion. It is (almost) entirely due to the enormously positive experiences I have had while switching off the lights and listening to "Third Eye" - intoxicated or not - that I have bothered to make this post asking you to listen again, or at least to tell me why you are excluding TOOL entirely from this list.
Again, I appreciate that it's a matter of taste. I do not (nor do I thin mk it would be appropriate to) hold it against you that your taste in music differs from mine. I would be astonished - and disappointed - were everyone to agree with me. That said, I hope you find my suggestion concerning this one song to be a reasonable one - or, if you do not, that other readers may. All my previous statements aside, I think we can all agree that music is one of the things that, under the right circumstances and with the right song, can make people feel more acutely alive than they otherwise might. I'm just as interested in hearing what your number one suggestion would be in the context of this thread, so that I might attempt to appreciate the music that brings you joy - or even catharssis, as I've experienced with third eye. In the past I've noted your exceptional taste and opinions in a variety of things and on a variety of topics, and therefore find myself not only willing, but eager, to learn the song that brings to you the feelings and the passion that "Third Eye" brings to me. I apologize if you've already clearly stated such a song. If you have, I missed it in my reading of this thread, and apologize for wasting your time. However, if you haven't, I truly am sincerely interested in finding out what artists and what song(s) have brought a similar amount of joy to your life as TOOL and "Third Eye" have brought to mine.
Thanks, and happy listening!

I'm not including any tool, because I'm just not in the mood for it. Everything doesn't need to be psuedo haute douchery. That was quite the rant though.
Seriously though, I've probably heard everything they've done at least a thousand times.
Right now this is what I'd rather listen too.

The perfect weed playlist?
I CAN"T BE DONE I SAY!!!!
We all got so many interesting varieties of taste. But if you wanted my song to put on this ephemeral 'perfect' list I will give you one.
Colorful Nickels by Black Moth Super Rainbow.
A lot of people don't like BMSR, but I think it's hard not to think this song is pretty.

It turns out you're right, especially when you try to put that playlist together while completely blitzkrieged.
