Anyone read any good books lately and if so can you suggest some? I'm trying to collect as man books as I can. I'll read any genre. The most recent book I read my was the metamorphsis by Franz Kafka.
Also, does anyone know how to gain weight and maintain it? I'm a small chick and it's hard for me to gain weigt. Someone suggested I drink calorie shakes and lift small weights/ exercise for an hour a day.

Interesting thread combo.
As far as books. The best 2 I've ever read are Fear in Loathing in Las Vegas & 1984. Actually, throw Doors of Perception in there as well. And Island. The last 2 are both by Aldous Huxley. My favorite 4 books. If you like F&L check out the Rum Diaries. I just finished Foundation by Asimov, excellent science fiction work. Read Slaughterhouse V right before that, also fantastic.
There's nothing wrong with being a small chick. I prefer them over toned girls or bigger girls or whatever. If you actually wanna pack on pounds though then yeah I guess you're gonna need to eat a shit load of calories a day, and weights will definitely help. I have insanely fast metabolism and dislike the gym, so I'm tall and thin but I don't really mind it. I think working out is shallow and pointless (unless you're an athlete), but that's just me

I'm a large guy and I eat for two and I remain skinny. Nothing wrong with being petite
If you like fantasy you should read books from Robin hobb, truly a wonderful female writer. She has many series and each of them suck you right into it...

Thanks for the suggestions. I've read brave new world by Aldous Huxley and 1984, both beautiful books. I have heard that Huxley is an interesting dude

I actually didn't like Brave New World all that much. Definitely check out Doors of Perception, it's the best "drug book" ever written, by far.
Very interesting guy, actually had his wife administer 100ug of LSD or so on his deathbed

Fucking LOVE 1984 and Island.
BNW was good, but it was all awesome awesome shit in the beginning, then nothing nothing happening much thru the second half.
Island is a book that should be required reading for anyone who lives in the world.
Doors of Perception is also fucking incredible

Island literally blew my mind. So amazing.
BNW just bored the hell out of me, 1984 was a much better novel. I can't help but compare the two. 1984 is just brutal as fuck, and BNW is like yeah... that's early Huxley for ya. Post-drug Huxley is much better then pre-drug in my opinion.

I loved SH5, and Sirens of Titan. And Cat's Cradle.
Probably my faves by him.
1984 was the novel that made me want to be a novelist. That fact that someone can just fabricate an entire world, and such a powerful, prophesizing one like that.... fucking incredible

I'm gonna read Cat's Cradle next.
Yeah George Orwell is the fucking shit. 1984's my favorite book, F&L is just a smidgen behind it.
The thing with 1984 is the ending.. It's like you think he's gonna make it through.. but no, his soul is fucked by the bad guy.. true dystopian master piece"
