Does a person's name affect their personality?

I've always wondered if your first name that is given at birth is linked to how you will act in the future. There has been many studies that debated this theory, but none that I have found that come to a solid (and proven) conclusion. I wonder if it also affects in some ways how a person looks. Have you ever met somebody whos name was Billy and he "looked like" a Billy. Or a Sean. Or a Heather? There is no real definition of what a "Bob" should look like, but there are some people who may argue otherwise. Lets hear your thoughts about this.
Here's an article about it: http://www.behindthename.com/articles/2.php

Not at all, you should look into Dabrowski's theory of positive disintegration if you want to know what affects personalities.

I have an unconventional name by American standards (I'm an average US citizen, just a weird name), and can tell you that it does seem to affect the way people treat you.
I was just thinking about this today. What if you had a child and never gave it a name (and/or impressed that names are unimportant)?

Yeah like imagine guys with unisex or "girly" names. They tend to not be the "tough" ones on the field...and yes that (as well as some other points ive made) are generalizations, but generalizations hold some truth to them. Just like stereotypes. Of course not "EVERY" Brittany will be a slut or whatever, but does it have some sort of role in the personality?

The idea that a name could affect a personality makes perfect sense to me. Certain mouthsounds are associated with certain feelings, and that combination of feelings is evoked whenever a person speaks their name or hears their name spoken, and repeated experience of certain feelings is bound to affect the personality in the long-term.

Like hypothetically speaking...think if you were to have a child who is a boy, and you decided to name him Susan. Would he grow up and mature the same way as a boy named Chuck?

i always wanted to name my "kid" Jason when I was a kid
now I hate that name
i'd name my son James (hendrix)
my dad named me brother after Hendrix as well, his middle names Marshall
and if I had a daughter, I'd name her Izabella (also a Hendrix reference)
I'm weird.

I think it has alot to do with personality. Maybe not as much as environment and lessons in life...but I think it plays somewhat of a major role.
You can think of it almost as "the butterfly effect".
If you take a random 20 year old person and travel back in time to when they were being born and convinced the parents to change their name at birth to something else and go back to the present and meet that same person again, they would probably be dramatically different.

Oooohhhhh fuck! I saw that movie when I was a wee one and never remembered the title. I love it when dude wastes his wife with the revolver, she is the definition of, "Loud cunt." Masterfluffypants, you've made my night.

I love when that happens. It happened to me just the other day when I found this:
I watched it once in a while when I was like 3-4 in the early AM. Pure nostalgia
