Does a person's name affect their personality?

I've always wondered if your first name that is given at birth is linked to how you will act in the future. There has been many studies that debated this theory, but none that I have found that come to a solid (and proven) conclusion. I wonder if it also affects in some ways how a person looks. Have you ever met somebody whos name was Billy and he "looked like" a Billy. Or a Sean. Or a Heather? There is no real definition of what a "Bob" should look like, but there are some people who may argue otherwise. Lets hear your thoughts about this.
Here's an article about it: http://www.behindthename.com/articles/2.php
-------------------- "You ever have that feeling where you're not sure if you're awake or still dreaming?" "Mmm...All the time. It's called mescaline, it's the only way to fly."

Not at all, you should look into Dabrowski's theory of positive disintegration if you want to know what affects personalities.

I think you mean social status and choice of name by the parents instead of just a name influencing personality

Not only is it a generalization but it's also a one at that.

Probably the first time I've ever heard this theory mentioned in regular conversation. I'm only familiar with it in outline, but I love the theory, I think it really does hold true.

Same with Heather.
Sure that's a generalization, but saying that all black people steal stuff is a generalization too

I have an unconventional name by American standards (I'm an average US citizen, just a weird name), and can tell you that it does seem to affect the way people treat you.
I was just thinking about this today. What if you had a child and never gave it a name (and/or impressed that names are unimportant)?
