Ambien, what should I expect?

My doc gave me a trial run of 10mg Ambien's since I've been having SO much trouble getting to sleep lately. Well not lately, I've had this trouble most of my life, but lately it's been much worse. I'm talking about laying awake in bed for 4-8 hours before finally getting to sleep, which frequently leads me to get to sleep around 4-6am. Which SUCKS when you have to get up at 7-9am for work. Added stress and what not.
Any ways, tonight is the first night taking them, so I want to know what I should expect. I've heard of sleepwalking or sleep driving shit.
Anyone with experience let me know what I can expect and what precautions I need to take? I just want to be able to get to sleep at a reasonable hour instead of laying awake until the sun comes up.

Ambien is a miracle drug for my sleep.
Take the pill IN BED and read a book/watch tv. Don't take the pill and shower and try to beat it from adsorbing.

Yeah, I've also heard to take it while in bed. I think I'll do that and watch a little tv till I fall asleep.
I'm just worried about waking everyone up trying to fix eggs and bacon at 3am or trying to drive my truck while sleepwalking. I've never sleepwalked before and I've heard this is a RARE occurrence, but we'll see what happens.

I wake up while on ambien all the time, I get up, take a piss and go back to bed. I don't think I could take any amount of ambien that would make me do something I would do sober.
Some people are just dipshits. I will continue to believe so until I can actually meet someone who has actually had one of these ambien adventures.

My neighbor was taking this and I went to her house one day to buy some xanax from her. I knocked on her door and she came to the door butt ass naked and started talking to me like everything was all cool.
She invited me in and I said fuck it and told her what I needed. She went to the bedroom to get the pills for me and never came back. I yelled for her and she didn't answer. I went back there and looked and she was passed out on her bed with her ass in the air. I just left without my drugs.
A few hours later I talked to her and she didn't remember me coming over.

I've heard if you fight to stay awake it can be a pretty trippy experience. I'm not looking for that though. Not at all looking to fight to stay awake.
I want this so I don't have to fight to stay awake during the day.

It isn't, I was naive to ambien aswell, popped it a few times because I have extreme insomnia. It's very good for sleep
Two days ago I took 100mg in total to see what it's all about and the only hallucination you get is that things seem to slightly "move" . No recreational value, just listen to the first poster. Take it, close your eyes or read a book and off you go

Well once I fall asleep, I rarely wake up, so I don't forsee that being a problem. It's just going to sleep that's the hard part.

Ambien is hit or miss, but give it a try. Long term, it makes the insomnia worse! But a couple months is completely fine if it works for you.

I've had powerful effects from 15 mg. Drugs are not the same for everyone.
It's a strange, hypnotic, dreamlike weirdness. It's good stuff.
I like it a lot.

Well I already take Xanax and Klonopin to control panic attacks.
From what I understand It's supposed to be more like a hypnotic benzo. Kinda like Temazepam and Triazolam.
I'll find out in a bit. I plan to take it around 12.

Interestingly enough, I am in the exact same position as you, cant sleep till ike 4 am, have to be at work at 8, and just got myself a prescription to ambien too.
DO NOT MIX WITH ALCOHOL even a single drink can reportedly be too much and will up the chances of those weird side effects and blackouts.
I actually wrote up my first dose of ambien as a trip report the other day, after taking 5mg of it, its effects were very clearly felt within about 10 minutes. 45 minutes in, the walls were breathing..... but that was the extent of the oddness. I did fall asleep very easily when i tried to.

Ativan is weak as hell, so it's weak squared? I have had IV Ativan which was alright, but wore off after an hour. IM Ativan was great. It was like a 7 hour buzz. But those both were after I went to the ER for panic attacks.
As long as it gets me to sleep at a decent time and hopefully no groggyness or hangover tomorrow morning.

I'll report back tomorrow with the outcome. I actually want to stay awake a bit, so I'll probably take it in the next hour. Tomorrow is saturday and I don't have shit to do. Well a little shit, but getting to bed at 1am instead of 5am will help me out a lot.

Ambien damn near killed me. When I took it.. everything was fine and dandy. The next night, at around the same time I would normally take it.. I'd get hypertension or something. I can't even explain it. It felt like i was on the verge of a stroke or heart attack or something. Worst feeling ive everrrr had. If im ever in a situation that's extremely uncomfortable/life threatening.. All I do is think "at least im not on Ambien"
The scary part is that I can't find any similar experiences to what I just described.. anywhere.

Well all went well. I did have a lot of food in my stomach so it took about 40 minutes to hit me. But I still got to sleep before 1am, which is a god damned miracle. No sleep walking, sleep eating or sleep posting.
Didn't really much of anything till I got tired and within 5 minutes I was out. First night I was able to get to sleep before 4-6am in weeks!
