Growing Liberty Caps?
    #14143835 - 03/18/11 03:33 PM (12 years, 10 months ago)

im wondering if any uk growers here have attempted to grow their own lib caps or if its even possible, ive seen a lot of pics in the grow log thread and none are there as its easy enough to get spores of so many other strains from sites i guess but would be nice to have you own libs on demand

thoughts...

Quite a challenge, is my understanding. Not for the beginner.

They probably need a cold shock to fruit, doesn't seem to be a big problem if you can grow outdoors and clone one. Please don't release astoriensis and cyanescens in europe, we don't know the species they will replace.

will read more on that later thanks, did occour to me the if picked carefully the spores could then be flicked on a spot at home, or you could just dig up that patch of grass and merge it in you garden.

I'm sorry could you elaborate on this statement please? Azurescens and Cyanescens have been released in Europe for over half a century and I fail to see how they can, have or will replace existing species. In fact, Psilocybe Cyanescens is said to be originally a European native species, introduced to the US via potted plants and such. It just happens it is much more prevalent there than Europe nowadays.

Psilocybe Semilanceata is said to be a European native species which has been introduced to the Americas and Australasia amongst other places and I don't see that species replacing any natives.

Likewise, Psilocybe Cubensis has spread far and wide and I know of no negative impact on pre-established species in new areas it now calls home.

Chameleon, as far as I'm aware cultivation of semilanceata is extremely difficult with some highly experienced cultivators having very limited success, the search button can be your friend here.
