A Spring Break party in Minnesota ended in tragedy after one teen died and 10 others were sickened when they overdosed on a designer drug called '2-C-E.'
The case has highlighted the dangers of the synthetic hallucinogen, which the group apparently bought legally online.
"It has psychedelic effects very similar [to those of] LSD or ecstasy," CBS medical correspondent Dr. Jennifer Ashton told "The Early Show." "It works as a central nervous system stimulant. It can increase body temperature and can cause hallucinations."
The victims, ranging in age from 16 to 21, took too much of the drug, sending 11 of them to the hospital. One of the partygoers, 19-year-old Trevor Robinson, was initially on life support but later died, according to KARE11.com.

LSD or Ecstasy? In no way would I compare those, "Yeah this tastes like shit or flowers..."
As for the people ODing on these, well I think its nature's built in fail-safe for fuckheads and retards. The problem essentially fixes itself. Thin the herd.

Here's some more fantastically stupid scare mongering bullshit. Apparently the media is jumping all over this one since they seem to have realized these drugs actually have positive effects and now that some dumb fucks screwed up they are all over it trying to convince us that we need to be saved because we're all naturally sinful and incapable of rational planning.

Thanks a lot stupid kids. If this results in some move to criminalize this class of compounds I'm gonna have to say I hope they all die.

Agghhh this is not the right kind of publicity at all, now another 2-cx will be made illegal. Best stock up while we can folks. And does anyone know LD50 of 2-ce?

I don't know if studies have been done, but the few massive overdoses I've read about would seem to indicate it's more liable to cause enormous discomfort than death. I bet this kid died because of something he did on 2C-E and not from the 2C-E itself, though I could be wrong.
Either way, let's keep our fingers crossed that this doesn't result in my favorite legal hallucinogen being banned.

And here's another:
http://www.foxnews.com/us/2011/03/17/overdose-leaves-minnesota-teen-dead-10-hospitalized/
Does anyone notice that regardless of the news site they are all saying the exact same things?
Perhaps something to do with 90% of the media being owned by 4 corporations?
No different than the crack moral panic of the 80s, except the bullshit is more concentrated than before.

I've done 2c-e id estimate 150+ times over the last few years, definitely was doing it way too much, mostly weekly, sometime more, sometimes less, but kept my doses generally around 15-25mg.
As for the safety of 2c-e, there is no strong proof either way, but i personally think it isn't a particularly toxic drug. With abuse, or extreme dosage, i don't doubt that some negative effects are possible. For me, all i ever really got was feeling a bit out of it the next day and some HPPD, which has now faded to a pretty much negligable level after finally realizing i need to be spacing my trips out more.
But i don't think the negative effects would far exceed that of other psychedelics, at least within a normal dose range. It's hard to say how a situation like this actually went down like. Were the 10 people all really 'OD'ing? or we're they freaking out/tripping too hard. How much did they take? Were they or the guy who died taking other drugs or medications as well? What was the cause of death?
Anyways, this kind of thing happens with drugs, with the traditional psych's they are blessed with having quite high LD50's so death is not a risk. No one really knows the full risks of 2C-e, but a single death does not equal being unsafe automatically. Hell people die from MDMA and alcohol, but at a reasonable dose, risk of death is not an issue and 2c-e has non-addictiveness going for it that those drugs can't boast. I hope that with time, this story covers the facts of what really happened so that conclusions aren't jumped to, but also to find out how this guy died.

I know by experience that 20 mg of 2-cb is an dose where you can trip like normal, and i tested 1 time 30 mg which tripped my balls of. 40 mg of 2cb was known as the limit. 2-ce is relative to 2cb.
i dont know how they used it,maybe they snort it like it was cocaine,or took an simple knife point of the 2ce(like 150 mg to 300 mg or even more)and used alcohol with it. an mg scale is reccomended.... Alcohol dries the body out with 2-xx substances.
But i cant imagine someone really can die an overdose by an 2-xx substance.
Its bad this happens and may the died person r.i.p and the other victims get soon healthy again, but this is not the folt it self of the 2ce, they simple did not do their homework how to use it correctly.
