Field Capacity Confusion

So i was reading some of RR's notes on field capacity and he said to bring the sub to the proper moisture content and then pasteurize. To me this makes no sense because i will be using the bucket tek(add boiling water and let sit for 2 hours)...and will be adding more water to pasteurize therefore changing the water content/field capacity of the substrate. I noticed in Monstermitch's tek he says the same thing. Am i missing something or am i really dumb? Thanks guys.

bucket tek is not very proper pasteurization and generally only works with a coir/verm/gypsum mix.

What do you think i should do for pasteruization?.... I will be using coir, vermiculite, gypsum, worm castings

the bucket tek is more or less cooking the coir, making it easier for the mycelium to digest it..
manure and straw based substrates MUST be properly pasteurized or else it will contam almost guarentee'd...coir is contam resistant so the bucket tek works fine for it..

Thanks neighbor. Do you think that these ingrediants will be just fine and show good results without any other additives? What do you tend to use?

I've always used coir/verm/gypsum using the bucket tek..
I am currently growing now with my first attempt at manure properly pasteurized so im not sure yet if i like manure better then coir..

Yeah ive looked over that a few times. Do you think that anything in monstermitch's coir tek is incorrect or outdated? I have been using information from his posts. He uses 3 quarts of spawn which would be more ideal for me. Do you think this would be ok to use with your tek if i threw in an extra 2 quarts of coir? Thanks for all the help. Wbs is doing great and almost fully colonized. I am excited to get a first bulk under my belt.

Well I use more spawn/wbs because it means faster colonization times.. Which = less waiting..
on that note monstermitch's info is top notch..

you can spawn at whatever rat you prefer...for a brick of coir i normally use 5 quarts of colonized grains.., if you only have 2 or 3 you can cut the brick in half and same with the bucket tek, cut everything in half and do it that way..
