Looked and didn't see this posted ------------------------------- Steve Elliot, Wednesday March 16, 2011 Toke of the Town
The New Hampshire House of Representatives, which has a nearly 3:1 Republican supermajority, overwhelmingly passed a bill Wednesday that would allow residents to use marijuana for medical purposes.
H.B. 442, which would create a narrow exception in New Hampshire law for people with certain qualifying conditions to use marijuana to treat their ailments with doctors' recommendations, will now move on to the Senate.
The bill passed 221-96, or by 69.7 percent, doing better than similar medical marijuana bills have done in previous Democrat-controlled sessions, proving that this an issue that both parties can support. The bill was introduced by Rep. Evalyn Merrick (D-Coos), a cancer survivor, and is sponsored in the Senate by Sen. Jim Forsythe (R-Strafford).
"This vote shows that compassion is not a partisan issue," said Karen O'Keefe, director of state policies for the Marijuana Policy Project. "Lawmakers can come together despite their political differences when it comes to allowing sick people to use medical marijuana. They owe it to their constituents to do so."
H.B. 442 enjoys strong support among voters. A 2008 Mason-Dixon poll showed that 71 percent of New Hampshire voters are in favor of allowing the use of medical marijuana, with only 21 percent opposed.
The bill now goes to the New Hampshire Senate.
Medical marijuana treatment is currently permitted in 15 other states and the District of Columbia, and is being considered in more than a dozen state legislatures this year.

NH is a red state. If you value your freedom you will heed my advice and Stay the fuck out of NH. most NH town police officers tailgate people and prey for any minor infraction for a chance to pull the person over, see who they are, what they smell like, and what can be spotted from their windows.
The police of NH think they are so slick when they casually ask "Mind if I have a look around your vehicle?"
Moved to Maine 2.5oz is a civil ticket, soon to be 5 oz. When I lived in Vermont I only went to NH to shop at its tax free shops.

Would you not call Maine a red state too? That doesn't mean shit.

Realistically... this describes how most cops act in just about any US state.
I live in a "blue state" and the same shit goes on around here. I once had a cop inform me I had been pulled over 20 times in less than 6 months. Not-to-mention, I've been followed halfway across my town by a squad car only to be pulled over and hassled once I turned into my driveway.
Any state that takes its prohibition laws seriously will have asshole cops. This is so because the prohibition laws themselves practically force cops to act like invasive, loophole exploiting dicks because what they're trying to arrest people for is, in essence, so innocuous that there is no effective way to tell who exactly has illegal drugs and who doesn't (therefore, they profile and/or take advantage of any opportunity they can to bother and search the hell out of individuals).

Depends on which map your looking at. I was referring to a Map printed in Hightimes about Cannabis friendly states Maine and Vermont where both green, NH is red because it has a zero tolerance policy when it comes to illegal drugs. In Maine if they catch you with some Marijuana they'll most likely make you throw it out. NewHampshire has no sales tax, has no income tax, so the NH Police are left to do the fining. Live Free or Die. As long as you pay your super high property taxes, and follow the law.
I drive around Maine and the police are too busy doing police things. A drive around NH finds many police with too much time on their hands.

I stand out like a sore thumb with a hippy looking car, I have never in 19 years been pulled over in NH. Maybe because you're out of state? However a big marijuana trafficking route is 89 going to and from vermont and boston. This is because the growers want to live in small towns and grow pounds to sell.
