Jumpin' on the E-cig bandwagon...

Let's face it Ladies and Gentlemen, smoking cigarettes IS, in fact, Cool... that is, if you're young and sexy. If you're old and ugly, like me, smoking cigarettes just become a nuisance to others around you and starts to take its toll on your health; making you older and uglier looking day by day.
These E-Cigarettes I've seen, seem to be a good fit for a guy like me, smoking them doesn't make you cool, and they wont have such a dramatic health consequence.
So, I'm gonna try to start smoking those, what I want to find out is, and I'm sure it's the same with E-Cigs as everything else in life, if anyone with experience with them knows...
What are the Quality E-cigs? I don't want shitty generic stuff, I want the good ones that still have nicotine in them and don't take 15 seconds of Madonna-like sucking to get a decent drag off of it.
Any info is helpful, thanks!

i would like to add to RP's list of questions with two of my own:
do ecig's smell like youre smoking a cig or no?
is it actually as satisfying as smoking a cig? i have a hard time imagining that, since all you are inhaling is vapor. i dont know why.

I use the DSE 901:
But I rarely ever use my battery, I'm mostly tokin on it with a USB passthrough hooked to my computer:

I can't stand cigs anymore, there's no way in hell I could go back. If I'm around my friends and we're drinking and I don't have my e-cig, I'll bum a couple off of them and the next morning my throat is sore and raw and my lungs feel like they're full of shit. E-Cig FTMFW as far as I'm concerned!

I use the Ego510, which is a great cigarette, one of the best on the market for its price. Excellent vaporizer all around, very user friendly, can be dis-assembled to users preference, doesnt light up at end, great amount of vapor, long batter life, durable.
I buy from liberty flights, cause they offer a killer discount on entirety of the order, search for the code and use it. Id suggest you look into 'dripping' and ecig maintenance once you get yours.

I think the batteries are $10-$15, atomizers $10, liquid $10 for a 3-4 week supply, the USB passthrough is like $15 I think... I don't know what the total is I'm too lazy. But you also need a charger and at least an extra battery/atomizer. So the startup cost is a little expensive but its really only about $15 a month thereafter. Plus the fact that it won't give you cancer, which is a pretty big upside, lol.

i tried a free one that a friend got mailed to him for free by some program to help Quitting Smoking. personally i didnt like it based on the one i had, it was neat tho it lit up in the front, and i bluu myst out from my mouth/nose like a real cigarette but it was huge in size and had a funny, plastic/metal taste. i would like to try a high quality, maybe menthol/ice one! what flavors are there?

Those ones that they send out for free or sell in gas stations are shit.
I use a JOYE510. It's pretty good!
I typically buy my hardware from http://shop.rockymountainvapor.com/
I've been buying my e-liquid lately from http://vaporbomb.com/
The strawberry waffles w/ whipped cream flavor is fucking phenomenal.

It's different. You know those 400 chemicals or w/e that they put into cigarettes? They do that for a reason. Because it makes them awesome.
This can stave off your nicotine craving, and I find it to be quite enjoyable if its a flavor I like, but it's not the same. Even if you get a good cigarette flavor, don't expect it to be the same.

Yeah, nothing will ever be as satisfying as smoking a real cigarette than smoking a real cigarette.
I'm willing to sacrifice some of the satisfaction, however, for some better lung health and to keep my skin from getting leathery and worn out looking by the time I'm 30-35.

Plus there is like a bazillion different flavors.

I'd like to try one, but not risking my health just yet.
Right now e-cigs are completely unregulated and most are made and imported from China. You could be vaporizing and inhaling arsenic and loads of other crap, all the while thinking its harmless.

I read what you wrote earlier today, and I did some research. I'm not saying E-Cigs are 100% safe, but what it appears to me as, is scare tactics unleashed by the FDA, claiming there are carcinogens and chemicals found in anti-freeze in the vapor of the E-cig.
I understand your concern, and I agree that I would like to see some unbiased clinical studies as well, but I wouldn't go as far as not trying it because it is unregulated by the FDA.
There is no proof that Nicotine causes cancer, and a lot of doctor testimonial I've read, says that Nicotine in itself isn't really bad for you.
So here's the position I am in: I smoke cigarettes, which are known to cause health problems, mainly from the tar it produces, not to mention the other chemicals added and carbon monoxide....
The e-cigarettes don't produce tar or carbon monoxide and still delivers a dose of nicotine which have helped people quit or drastically reduce their consumption of traditional cigarettes.
My conclusion is E-cigs > Real cigarettes in regards to safety based on that alone.
It is quite possible the FDA wants to eliminate E-cigarettes to maintain the Government's Billions of dollars obtained each year from Traditional cigarettes being taxed so high.

The only reason some people think ecigs are crap is because: a. They fall for misinformation like most do with drug use, or b. they were ripped off with an over-priced cheaply made chinese piece of crap.
I use a PV (personal vaproizer is what they are really called) and have not touched a cig since. The best model you can get is called a Riva, and the starter kit in only $30...yes, only $30.
It comes with two complete units and 10 cartridges that you fill with liquid. There are literally thousands of flavors to choose from, so if you think the cheap one you tried tastes like crap, it's because it had a crap flavor in it.
They are completely harmless and the ingredients of the liquid are all USP or food grade materials.
As for nicotine, it does not cause cancer and no one ever claimed it did, It's the 4000 other chemicals in cigarettes that are harmful. Nicotine is also not nearly as addictive in it's pure form as it is when mixed with the chemicals the tobacco companies add to it.
There is more nicotine in eggplant an potatoes than there is in second hand smoke.
There is no reason people should shun ecigs in public, they just do it out of ignorance.
find a GOOd PV, some liquid that you like, and you can stop smoking like thousands of others already did.

As long; as we are in this train of thought could you put anything into one of theese things; for instance some spice? How do you fill the PV? What is the liquid the chemicals are suspended in? Thanks in advance

The liquid is either Vegetable Glycerine, or Propylene Glycol. (VG or PG)
VG gives more vapor, but the "throat hit" and flavor is slightly muted. You can usually get the liquid in a mix of the 2
PG is a food grade adidtive found in lots of foods, candies, flavorings, etc. It is also the same liquid they use in medical inhalers, hospitals to clean the air, etc. It is perfectly safe.
I wouldn't put spices in the liquid. You don't want solids gunking up the atomizer.
How you fill it depends on the type, but in general you just drip the juice into the mouth piece, replace the filler, and you're done.
