As I write this, the time is almost up on my currently pasteurizing oven bag of substrate that I'm boiling in a pot of water on the stove and maintaining at 160 degrees Fahrenheit.  The substrate is a mixture of horse manure, straw, and vermiculite.

Once cooled, I will be spawning what bird seed is colonized through very careful picking and choosing.  They will be in quite small containers, but that's only because I do not have much to work with.  My goal is to at least get ONE mushroom that I can print from (worst case scenario), so I will keep my fingers crossed and hope for the best!

As I've understood, only fully colonized (mycelium covered) grains should be chosen, as the others will quickly contaminate my substrate, correct?

im not quite sure what exactly your asking but if you asking if you should pick and choose witch individual grains to use as spawn from one jar
if thats correct i would say that if the jar is 100% colonized use the whole jar as spawn not just the grains that appear colonized.

did that answer your question?

Dude, honestly, you're throwing the dice...& I love it!!!

You're optimistic & realistic all in one. It may work, if it doesn't...fuck it. PM me I'll send ya a print of Lizard King. Then you'll have 10 syringes...I made up 8 PE6 syringes 3 months ago & only touched one. Used the whole thing, but I haven't inoculated a jar w/ a syringe in 3 months...:2cents:

You're on the right track. Next time, check your moisture content of WBS & just use coir+verm for your bulk. It's way easier, & much more noob friendly...It's still all I use...
