i did too. everyone i want to stay in contact with knows how to reach me in person. however, i did like being able to communicate with my favorite artists and actually getting a reply.

I'll Delete my Myspace account, but I generally use facebook to figure out where parties are held, what's going on weekend nights, and what ski resorts people are going to hit up.
Myspace was a popularity game, and only a few idiots manage to swing popularity in FB because no one adds people they don't know.

I have a facebook to keep in touch with family; I hardly use it, though.

You haven't deleted your Facebook account. You've relinquished control of it. You can't delete a Facebook account.
While you fall asleep tonight, ponder what they're doing with all that information that they've archived about you.

The other day, some app that I had never approved of sent an automatic spring greetings card to my auntie in Portugal with no input from me. I received a notification that she liked it, and that was the first time I'd heard of the card that had been sent to her under my name.
There was nothing special about the card; she was just happy to have received a card from me.
It made me incredibly sad, for some reason. I felt like I had lied to a loved one. It's so dehumanizing when I think about it. For the first time I seriously considered deleting my FB.

i love when people brag about either never getting one or deleting theirs... what a thing to brag about
i have a FB, and i dont see much "wrong" or annoying or whatever, with having one. sure "they" have my info, like what kind of music i listen to, what books i read, tv shows, etc. does that really matter? not at all. so what if its "archived"? you think someone is going to use it against you some day? if youre doing something illegal, dont use FB to talk about it.
if anything, facebook is just a good way for major corporations to learn how to market stuff differently and sell things to you.
facebook and other social networking sites are the evolutionary result of the internet. listen to what terence mckenna talked about, how the boundaries of reality are dissolving, everyone all over the world connecting and coming together instantly. FB is a pretty cool concept IMO

im debating whether to delete it or not. its so highly useful as far as communication goes. drugs are easily tradeable and handled, and feds dont check FB as much as you think *(or at least as i much as i believe so).
im starting to veer from the party scene so deleting FB wouldnt make a difference now since i just get dragged to parties anyways. it would be nice to just not have it, but its soo hard when EVERYONE you know has it.

I got sick of facebook years ago and I ended up deletiung mine.
A few things about the site niggled me such as:
- People being incredibly false and irritatingly egotistical. - The constant stream of updates full of nonsense like, bitchy messages/insecurities/attention seeking/boasting. I wouldn't listen to their crap irl, nevermind online. - Nosey people who are too interested in your life and practically stalk your page and then use what ifo they have about you later against you irl. - The all-too-often shameless self promotion. Ties in with egotism. - People you never liked adding you, reminding you that they still exist. - People that are having babies and flood every possible message the site has to offer in your face. I don't want to know. - Shirtless males posing with an unintentionally comical fcial expression flexing their steroid ridden lumps of skin.
ah you get the message.

Deleted mine a few months ago...just seemed a bit too sketchy for me, don't need any personal info out there for everyone to see.
