Hard to say really. The definition of "spiritual" is too loose.
I'm definitely more thoughtful, kind, imaginative, creative after taking psychedelics but I don't believe in any gods. The closest I can bring myself to believing in a deity is the idea that maybe the Earth is conscious in some sense. Does that count?

If this is what's meant by spirituality, psychedelics have made me spiritual as fuck.
But if what's meant by spirituality is "believing in imaginary nonsense like souls and the afterlife" then no, psychedelics have made me less spiritual than ever.
This is what I'm getting at........
Sure... I'm spiritual by your definition but not by "believing in imaginary nonsense like souls and the afterlife""
well put laser
I agree as well...
And in the end, I believe many of these believer type people are too - trying to seek their deepest self.

Psychedelic drugs have made me more spiritual, open-minded, and loving. Not religious.

so by most of these definitions, anyone who feels comfortable in their own skin is spiritual.
Yep, still think spirituality is BS

Hard to define with words, but by 'knowing yourself' I mean at a level much deeper than surface personality traits.

To me the word spiritual implies the belief in a human spirit, which I see as the belief in the supernatural and/or a level of existence separate from our brains.
I don't necessarily believe there is anything more than the chemical reactions occurring in the brain, therefor I don't believe in a human spirit and wouldn't really call myself spiritual.
I do mediate and agree with a lot of what the self proclaimed "spiritual" people have to say, so what's your opinion on this?

"What if I was wrong, and no one cared to mention?"
One of my favorite song lyrics. Basically sums up my feelings on this. When I'm wrong, for the LOVE OF GOD TELL ME IMMEDIATELY. It is a disservice to someone to let them live a delusion and never confront them with reality. You might as well put a gun to their head and pull the trigger. Call that extreme if you like, but that's how I feel.

I'll prod a little at most..
but keeping in mind that there are believers of god that feel very much the same as that - that feel like by pestering me about gods existance, how I'm going to hell, how jesus loves me... they're actually doing me a favor... it keeps me from pushing my beliefs on anyone else
I'll discuss but I won't claim to have any monopoly on the truth, their guess is (almost ) as good as mine.

If you're living your life by guessing, you ain't doin' it right. There is such a thing as evidence. Souls, God, etc, fail to meet that standard. You got opinions about the economic system? Okay. Your guess is as good as mine. But you want to tell me you're going to heaven? Sorry motherfucker, I'm gonna remind you that it was made up out of someone's ass.

I was already pretty "spiritual" before ever taking hallucinogens, but they certainly evolved my concepts. I think science in itself can be spiritual. I'd guess as time progresses, we are only going to reaffirm what we have already experienced as science comes to better understand it.

Eh I agree for the most part But when it ultimately comes down to it no one really knows how/why we are here so I at least try to treat everybodies opinions with respect... while I think its absurd to believe that a god such as one described in the bible exists - the prospect of a higher being whose actions created our existence is still a possibility (not one I lean towards) but still a possibility.

The thing is, you don't have to claim to know the ultimate nature of reality. All I claim to know are the rules of evidence and logic. And if you know the rules of evidence and logic, some beliefs are simply off the table. They cannot be entertained if you would call yourself intellectually honest. A soul is definitely in that category.
I fully grant the possibility that God may exist. But I DEMAND that whoever I enter discussion with acknowledge the fact that there is NO EVIDENCE FOR THIS WHATSOEVER, and therefore there isn't even a SUGGESTION of a basis for belief in it.

as much as I tend to feel all "spiritual" about things, you may just be right.
i get the feeling sometimes that the spirits, feelings of presence/otherness on psychedelics are just my neocortex communicating with older more archetypal parts of my monkey brain and the visuals me merely seeing my head from the inside out.
I got this distinct feeling on DMT. A beautiful mandala like a pinecone/lotus/stainedglass window appeared and I thought "this is a place in my (physical) head, I know this place"

And you as well as I know how difficult it can be to get someone to accept that... which is why I generally don't try in the first place oft more to be lost than gained.
