I think they do not always bruise blue, but can. They are pretty unmistakeable tho from the way they look, just put the species name into google or this site for pics. Not sure but possibly too late in the year for them. I saw one on some horse dung a couple of years back, i think it was late summer.

Noon. It was Tuesday, and a thick fog greeted us as we ventured upwards and yonder into a thick native forest - in which myself and two amigos hoped to find 'weraroas', a small fungi introduced to us by the local natives. Psilocybe novae-zelandiae, as it is more formally known, would be the vessel in which we would soon journey through time and space, infinite possibilities lay ahead. Continuing along a barely discernible path, and soon, into the as yet undiscovered bush, we saw positive signs of the presence of these elusive mushrooms - rotting undergrowth and fallen ponga littered the forest floor.
So yeah we found a bunch of mushrooms that are lookin' pretty tasty.
Any recommendations on the best way to preserve weraroas? Is drying all good or do they lose potency?

Dehyrdat0r. Maybe slice them in half and then dry if you're aiming for some long term action. Nice post man You have a couple in there that long like they aren't be weraroa, bottom right. Kinda sub-ish.
p.s they don't lost potency much at all imo

Wow the new zealand mushroom scene is actually surprisingly bigger than I thought, I'm jealous of you guys your thread is longer than the nsw one!

What's the deal with kronic in nz now anyways? It's illegal to sell now in nsw and going to be illegal to consume in the next few days I think... shame.

wouldnt dry them bro, weraroas seem to lose considerable potency when dried. put them in honey man and theyll be sweet for ages.

There's a lot of talk, and currently not much action. They've removed their advertising rights, and found that some products contained phenazepam which is prescription only. So a couple products are illegal to sell / possess. Pretty sure JWH is still legal tegal which is the main ingredient so the majority of products are legal still.

If you are looking to store your mushrooms dehydrate them completely then freeze in a airtight container.

Good honey, the expensive kind. And idk apparently there is huge loss to potency if dry, but im not so sure, and frozen I dont think you should.

This year I did dried and wet mushroom honey batches (use manuka honey, I used a $10 jar - it's unrefined and will preserve them really well). While I haven't tasted the dried mushroom honey yet, I can vouch for the effectiveness of the wet batch. I just roughly chopped them and dunked them in the honey (you have to remove say half to make room for the mushrooms). They will leak water. Stir occasionally, to mix the liquid back in. Honey should turn black. Every few days drain the liquid - drink it if you want! Add some more honey if the level gets too low. You'll end up with a decent honey spread which can last a few months at the very least. The dried honey will I expect last for much longer, but as I say, I've no idea how potent it will be. The mushrooms were dried and powdered prior to being incorporated to the honey.

Yes. Start them anytime, but seems to require 8-9 months undisturbed mycelial growth before successful fruiting.
