There ISS a lot a mushies out there. I used to hit the shore to pick up a thousand or so easy. I have realised since their just growing everywhere! in the CBD i get upto 500 clearing out some patches . Inclusing makarorae. Its beautiful to see how the mushies are just insane everywhere but slightly different everywhere too.. Im quite sure the season has until mid augustto keep flushing..  sometimes in the following weeks when temps rise i think thers a coupple more nice flushes.
Will get my pics soon of some nice fields,
Happy Hunting everyone XD

My patches aren't growing well at the moment, but it's a warm autumn still so not too worried.  If it rains solidly they'll pop up hard.

Just being outhunted tbh.

How did everybody on here learn how to hunt shrooms? I have done a lot of reading and have sussed out many pics and info on what im looking for but just seem to have no luck. The best I could do was find a single sub??? Are there any tricks you guys have that are key for finding and IDing new shrooms for a beginner? These countless hours spent roaming through bushes, forests and parks are getting me down with finding nothing. Would it be a decent idea to ask to go out hunting with someone just for experience, not even a cut of any of the find?

From CHCH btw

I found my first actives last season. Just one patch that provided enough for me and my friends. This year I have found heaps of good patches. I haven't even been looking that hard. Just eyes to the ground when walking with my kids etc. I think that once you have your first good find, you kind of, instinctively know where to look and can ID actives without breaking stride. I spotted a new patch today whilst riding my motorbike to work. A year ago, my eyes wouldn't have picked it up.

I'm on the North Shore.

I agree once you find your first patch all of the sudden they pop up everywhere just this past week alone I have spotted 4 very public patches whilst driving to work and this afternoon I was picking a few from a local park when a couple of young guys asked if I could show them which were the right ones... I said look at your feet they were literally standing on them, To the untrained eye they seem to camouflage themselves pretty well I think.

I'm hunting in Christchurch too. Must admit finds are few and far in between too. I'm guessing it has a lot to do with the dry climate here. There's only really been one decent rain here since May, compare that Auckland and you can see why the shrooms thrive up there.

My advice is grow some cacti, I'm growing 8 San Pedros at the moment and they love the dry sunnier climate. That way when there's no rain in site you can at least know in some ways you're still benefiting!

Ugggghh, grow Cacti if you know how to do a proper extraction. If you think eating mushrooms is bad, it is nothing, i mean NOTHING is as horrible as drinking Pedro juice, expect the trip to be full of memorable puking experiences :laugh:XD.
