I love it how after foraging for mushrooms and scraping the surface of mycology most people turn into Paul Stamets all of a sudden.
The internet + Anonymity is a strange and wonderful thing.
None of you know what the hell your on about..... except for Inski

sum0 said: Hey Neutro, Those are just generic P.subs of varying microclimates, substrates and phenotypes. There is no scientific breakthrough, those are not cyans, they are probably not more potent than regular subs and for all intents and purposes they are subs, so like Xthrx said, wtf u on about bro?
Phenotypes! Thanks for introducing me to the correct word! I'm still learning here. So, these Tall-Dark-Strongies are simply an amazing phenotype that contrasts the "p. cyans looking" p. subs we usually find in Melbourne.
Anyway, I think I've got all the information I wanted about my mysterious Tall-Dark-Strongies (in between a few slaps to the face for using incorrect words) And I'm still keen to play around with collecting and growing different phenotypes, and observing the results for myself.
I like to know a little more detail behind things, than "if it goes blue, its a shroom"....
A personal scientific breakthrough is a good thing, even if its nothing new.

Its all about substrate + area. Whatever the climate conditions = the subs will grow exactly to what theyve been exposed to. Picked about 150 pin/mediums, left em for the whole week hoping for rain, they were half dead by the time I got there today ;( New ones popping up though maybe they'll get rain

PhD was in "Microbiology" as there was no option to have as directly "Mycology".
Basically dealt with collection, culture isolation, and identification/taxonomy (morphological and molecular i.e. via DNA sequences)of microfungi that are pathogens of insects and other arthropods.

What is it with Psilocybin mushrooms often growing outside churches and schools? It seems to me that it could be natures way of providing an antidote to the institution... That's what I choose to believe anyway, it could be however that these same institutions just have more money to channel into landscaping their gardens (ie. woodchips).... I'm sticking with my first hypothesis

I agree have been scouring the Shore, have made trips to the usual bush North and West but nothing... Have seen lots of mushrooms in chip gardens and in the bush, just nothing active... Could it be the summer like temps were getting in mid winter? Would be happy if I even found one! For just a single spore print even

How's Wellington going for you guys? I've been finding heaps of weraroa. One of my spots produces at least 15 or so per week (in the space of about 3 square feet) but I've not managed to find any subs, etc. I guess I'm looking in the wrong places...
