so subseciotoides often grows among subaeruginosa? is it a variation? environmental causes? have people tried letting them mature and see if they open up?

Not among (IME), but certainly beside, although I wouldn't say often.
It's not a variation of subaeruginosa or environmental causes, and the caps open up but hardly, I've found 28 gram fruits that were still secotioid form.

Yeah ive found them growing in the same habitat twice this year...check out my pics from 09, to see some subsects that have opened up. i was growing them in a polystyrene box, and got some real meaty specimens...they definately open up when placed in the artificial environment.

Hey, I'm new to the forum but been in the game for 2 seasons now. Having trouble finding, have only found minimal in the always raided spot in Botany. I live right in CBD, any good spots around there?

Unfortunately I was snapped by Mr.Piggles, so I had to throw the pockets full back. Very reasonable cop (all things considered) only gave me a fine for being along the side of the motorway.
He was very interested in how to prepare them though, one does wonder if they are still on the ground where they were left...?
...so keep an eye out on police 10/7, I might just be on the motorway cam!

Yo Nzer-ers,
This random patch I found is profusely popping pretty pins.. Weather is winning today, I have never loved or had such a passion for rain and dead wood before haha, but now am obsessed with it.
Winning? Think so!

Hey Blazer420, nice stash
Are the shrooms in the first pic sitting in water?
If so, why?

Very interesting that they do this in "captivity"!
Did you uplift a patch of the woodchips and pins? Maybe to keep well-watered and from getting taken?

Just found these fruiting directly from dead logs, shows good variation from one micro-climate to another I think,

By the way, freaking epic stash Blazer420!

I put them in the sink so I could get rid of the grit and dirt/bugs that were on them, and I also took the water and bottled them so I could go 2 previous patches and soak them in it .
Thanks for the comments guys . Made over 251 capsules that contain .7 in each

They look a little more "normal" for subs, especially in the tendency to get go nearly flat/plane on top.

Wow... The amount of subs you guys are finding just blows my mind!
I'm currently in Chch and have found a few subs around the place but only ever 1 or 2 here and few and far in between. Every place I seem to look has loads of what I assume are Galerina varieties (i.e. sub looking top, thin orange stem/orange gills). What I'm wondering is are you more likely to find big patches of subs out in the bush, or around urban areas? Finding Galerina's(?) all the time is getting a bit depressing!

These posing subs were collected just outside my front door.
After finding a huge patch in my neighbours garden, I re-mulched my yard, with the very same woodchip that the council kindly spreads around the place for mushroom cultivation (or so I assume). I buried some mycellium and spore prints to help it along and a year later it's all go. This stuff is cheap. At around $15-$30 a cube it's the cheapest weed suppressing/ moisture retaining garden mulch available.
