hey nice haul do you realise pulling out the whole mushroom disrupts the mycelium and hinders the productive capacity of the patch, please be a considerate picker and leave the stubs in the ground.

I found my first subs of the season in the Albany area today. My best patch from last year hasn't fruited yet though. Also, the woodchips I inoculated in my garden last year haven't started yet either. Guess different micro-climates will fruit at different times.

Ive heard about vinyards and orchards being a good place to look, does anyone know if this is true or a myth? Thanks

It's true.

These (orchards) have lots of shelterbelts (mainly sheoaks?), and if you've ever seen them being pruned you'll know that fresh woodchips are liberally sprayed all over the show every year.
This results in lots of rotting woodchips all through the soil. If subs are in the area, sooner or later spores get to the chips and the whole orchard becomes infected... subs popping up all through the grass etc every autumn. Can be prolific.:grin:

I found this little badboy sitting all alone next to a track today. Could possibly be sub a think? I have never found an active shroom before but am hopeful!!!!! It doesnt show in the pic but it does have slight blueing at the base I think. Any help IDing would be greatly appreciated.

You should start a new thread for ID requests.

Did you do a spore print? Squeeze the stem and see if it blues

Pulled 500gms from a new patch today that I'd wiped clean on Monday and gotten 200gms from.  Lining up to be a spectacular season!
