Great start to the season. Seeing some big hauls already.
First hunt

Second hunt was larger than the first the rain over the weekend seemed to kick the patch into gear.

Looks like its going to be a very good season. Good luck hunting

Tell your friend to use scissors if he doesn't want dirt all through his shrooms

i've been looking lots on the shore and hibiscus coast with no luck, do you find most of yours in woodchips or around forests etc?

oh cool! thanks.
Lots of people are saying it isn't cold enough yet but they must be wrong haha, the only woodchip place ive seen so far was a roundabout which had some mushrooms but none active.
so would I be on the right track by looking in public places like parks, schools and stuff?

Not particularly, The less public the better the patch in general, aswell as decreased chance of getting caught is a nice thing to have.

In my experience i've had better luck finding patches in more public places, i think they like the vibrations, or maybe the spores spread there easier, but yeah the more public the less safety and size of patch for sure

Hey I work in a fairly rural area in the canterbury area and at work there are a lot of what look like subs growing in grass/paddock patches all over the place. One problem, they NEVER bruise blue. Arn't subs supposed to bruise blue? If so why would these identical looking mushies not bruise blue, could fungicide be linked with this?

If they never bruise blue then they aren't really identical are they?
Pick one and do an ID request

Subs are woodlovers, they will only fruit off dead wood like woodchip gardens and rotting logs, and sometimes dried leaves.
There are a lot of lookalikes such as Galerinas, which can be deadly, take pictures, post them up here and get a Trusted Identifier to look at them before consuming.

Hey I have been finding these everywhere walking along the road today, a few of them are staining blue, thing is they are all very small are these 'Magic?'... and they are not old enough to be bruising yet?... these ones I found have blue spots on the bottom of the stalk and areas around the cap.

Thanks to anyone willing to help!

Got tired of trying to go hunting with mates so I went by myself, ended up rather successful. I'll post a better pic later on.
P. Subaeruginosa I believe?
