Some of the most poisonous mushrooms are greenish, or with green spores...

Nice tub! From last years pics they do have a kinda weird shaped cap when mature.
Yeah, is the temperature, especially in a situation such as a container or yard where you can ensure adequate watering all the time. Saw the first goldtops near ChCh after we had a cold snap a few weeks back (with some rain). Dropped to 5 for a couple of nights. This seemed to encourage a lot of other different mushroom species to fruit also, including some that I would expect to fruit a lot later in the season.
Funny i wondered what a "tubecruiser" was, now I have seen the waves I get it.
Keep on Trucking...

Just got back from a loooong multi day walk in Te Uruwera and thought I found some wereroa but am pretty sure (after checking the pics on the net) that they are not... Bummer!
Still looking for an ID, if anybody can give me one?
I guess I got confused by the obvious bluing of these pouches (but stemless pouches, so definitely not wereroa).
This is how I found them:

In between the roots of many trees, but mostly these:

Blue eh?

But not for eating:

Also found this amazing blue colored ones, never seen anything like it. Any idea what this is? On the entire 4 day walk only found 2 of these in close proximity:

And these look-a-likes or real?

Same ones but still undercover:

Whoops there it is:

This little beauty is Entoloma hochstetteri.
Nice.

Yes, NZ's iconic blue Entoloma. They seem to grow in small groups with each mushroom spaced a little way from its neighbours, or singly. A lot in bush on the SI West coast. there are a few other Entoloma species here too that are not quite as blue.
I think the Bluish truffle-like one might be a Gauteria species.

These are some of the older specimens; the bulk are still pins.

Creating time lapse photos requires all camera settings including camera location to be identical from shot to shot. I don't have a camera quite up to this, nor can I leave the camera set up permanently... so I'll probably just post them in sequence to a thread in my journal much like last year.
If anyone has suggestions as to how I can improve the shots, or the thread, or things you'd like to see included in the shots that I'm not currently getting, let me know.
I'll put the other shots I have together when I have time, and in the meantime just post some random ones that look interesting.

Right on: http://nzfungi.landcareresearch.co.nz/html/data_photo_large.asp?ID=&name=Gautieria~novae-zelandiae&IMAGEPKey=5533&NamePKey=3899
Thanks!
Not sure which Cortinarius it is though... Maybe http://www.mushroomhobby.com/Gallery/Cortinarius/Cortinarius%20evernius/index.htm
Cool to have found a native NZ species! Thanks for the IDs!

In native bush, most fungi you see will be native species. But there are some species which can be found worldwide, guess you could call them local strains and maybe with some slight DNA differences.
As for Cortinarius, I understand there are hundreds of species and pretty difficult for most people to accurately put a correct name to them. kinda like the Coprosmas of the fungus world.

This is the sub strain of Psilocybe subaeruginosa that I believe to be closest, if not identical to what they call P. "cyanofriscosa" in SF, I would like to see some comparisons as I think it is the same species.
I think Alan would be interested in doing this comparison!
The shape and color of the young caps look different to me.

Your first one is Chamonixia pachydermis Nice blue Entoloma, here is one of my observations of that species. http://mushroomobserver.org/47258?q=49EB Your Cortinarius species could only be identified if you have mature specimens and with the addition of microscopic information, chemical reactions with alkaline reagents and the use of Karl Soops key to the NZ Cortinariaceae, I have the book, microscope and chemicals needed if you have the dried specimens and are interested enough to persue the identification further, they resemble young and particularly dry specimens of C. cucumeris. http://mushroomobserver.org/47020?q=49KL
I'm very happy to see your post from Te Urewera, I will be spending the long weekend in the Kaimanawa Forest and hope to make many interesting finds!
Alan, they look very similar to me with the subumbilicate pileus, I don't really have too much trust in colours in images on the internet, I would still like to see an indepth comparison done, I should have specimens for you soon.

Im a novice to this but i was walking home earlier and found these..

Was just wondering if they could be identified. I found them growing in wet grass at the park in my seaside christchurch neighborhood at about 7.30-8.30am. Im pretty sure there all the same kind, they all have the same white gills. The stems are white and solid. The spores seem white. Sorry about the crappy quality pics
