Welcome to the 2011 season Shroomery!
Found in native bush in Wellington, just one sole fruit was all I found on my first hunt. Still, 10 days earlier than last year!
Picture was taken today, receipt is from 2 days ago as proof.
Happy hunting!

Psilocybe weraroa - formerly known as Weraroa novae-zelandiae. Very unique mushroom, but plentiful in the area where I live.

Nice find nickc!
I can't wait to stalk the Psilocybes of the North Island when I return in June.

Woohoo! Another season
Really cool to start the 2011 hunt off with a Weraroa. I'll be checking all of last seasons spots in the next few weeks.

Cheers bro, it wasn't too large but as I've found with all first flushes each season, it was potent. I ate it last night and had a level 2 trip.
I'd say we'll still be waiting a month or so for mass fruiting, but I'll be keeping an eye on my dark damp bush area just in case!

Way to start things off
Why are products priced to single cents if 10c is the lowest coin in NZ?
US gasoline prices are put to thousandths even though we only have cent pieces, like 3.559, but that is so people think it's 3.55 instead of 3.56. Everything would end in 9 (or just above 5 with Swedish rounding), like 3.79 or 4.99 or 4.69 if the philosophy was the same in NZ... but I see 3.72, etc.. ?

We use the Swedish rounding method too so anything over 5 rounds up to the next ten unit while anything 5 and under gets rounded to the last ten unit. $7.05 = $7.00, $7.06 = $7.10 Makes sense?
But since the 5 cent piece was replaced in 2005 no one has changed the prices to reflect this. They just keep using the same method that was in place beforehand.

That is such a sweet mushroom. One question, how to the spores get out? lol. It's not entirely closed at the bottom I suppose?
Ever since I found out about these guys they have interested me, like weird blue lightbulbs.
