high, these b+ have now been growing for around a month and allthough there is slight progress i'm abit worried it's going so slolw it might ruin. is there a way to speed it up one of the injection sites is growing alot faster than the other for some reason but at this speed i think it'll take months to cover the whole jar, all i can really do is make it abit warmer or cooler, do you have any suggestions.

i just put selotape over them, that's what it tole me to do on the instructions. there where no holes originally so they are just the size the syringe made.

you need holes so it can breath, thats why its taking so long...the only problem it being a grow kit i dont know if it has a dry verm barrier on top..by the pics it doesnt look like it does.

Is that one of those jars that has the/a filter built in the lid? And if so, is that what you taped over(that thing in the center)?

u need air in there simply take a red hot nail and poke a couple extra holes in it!!, or it could also be a bad mixture of substrate hard tellen

sum people use micropore tape over inoculation holes if u have mycelium growing after a month and no contams u best off to pull that tape off and give it a chance!

growth doesnt stop contams except the fact that percentage of your growth wont get contameed since myclcilum has is hold on the substrate,, and ya too much solution can easly over saturate the substrate and inhibit growth,, this happpend to me before when I had extra syringes I made it colonized then stopped and spread super slow!!

If you put a hole in it without a dry verm filter underneath it could contaminate.
Doesn't look like you have a barrier. I say leave em, and start a new grow with a PF-Tek Tek found on here.
--------------------
Trade List! Don't use incubators. An incubator is for contamination as brothels are for STDs. Sure you get sex, but is it worth it?

would you try changing the heat? or does the fact that it's started to grow mean the heat is o.k? and if you whereto give theheat a little change would you normally go hotter or colder, i don't know the temp they are in they are in a carboard box filled with foam stuff (shaped like watsits/cheetos) and then i've put some plastic bags around the box which i've then put in a cuboard.

Remove all the stuff from round the container, leave it on a shelf in your room, or out of sight if that's a problem.
Room temp 70-75 is perfect for colonising, no need to incubate. If you are comfy in a t-shirt, so are they.
That white strip on top is basically micorpore tape anyway, you shouldn't need to make any more holes. A syringe sized hole in a plastic container like that will do very little for gas exchange anywyay.

Not at all. I never keep my jars in the dark (though I believe some edibles prefer it...). Avoid direct sunlight, but daylight/electric lights are no problem at all. They need to breathe, that's all.

ok that#'s intresting i've allway heard ou need to keep them in the dar.
when it's ready on the instructions it does'nt mentione dunking them is just says i should boil some water add it into the tray/box i bought with the kit which has stuff at the bottom wait for it to cool drain the excess then place the cake in there, so basically wet the enviroment where i put the cake but don't directley soak the cake.

Look up "dunk and roll", everyone does it. Forget the instructions.
Check out the RR (Roger Rabbit) videos, they are a lifesaver for noobs, all the info is accuarate and reliable.

don't you only dunk and roll once the mold has taken over the cake?

fixed and
You dunk in between every flush to rehydrate the substrate, but you only roll your cake once following the initial dunk. The reason for this is that contaminant mold spores will inevitably land on your cakes while in fruiting conditions but will have a hell of a time trying to germinate on a healthy, 100% colonized cake. By applying another layer of moist/wet verm on top of the initial verm layer you've essentially created prime real estate in contam city giving mold spores the conditions they need for germination and eventual sporulation, subsequently fucking your shit up for lack of a better, less vulgar phrase.

You should read/watch stuff about this, it will increae your yields a whole lot.

Huh? I don't get your question. Are you asking what to use/do in lieu of an incubator? If so, the answer is; nada damn thing. So long as temps in your house are ~60f+ you should have no problems getting your jars to colonize, provided all proper procedures prior to inoculation are followed. I colonize my jars in the low to mid 60s all winter long without a hitch. It may take a bit longer but if patience is a problem for you then it's probably time to find a new hobby.

Dude.. to get the substrate right is just going to require trial and error on your part.
If you really want to have an easy time, get a PC and do food grade rye or wheat. WBS is for birds, meaning it has a fuckton of bacteria, spores, and whatall else. Rye and Wheat are fit for human consumption and have been powerwashed before they even get to the grocery store. Much cleaner.
Getting the water right w/ grains is very easy... you soak them, then boil them until they can't hold any more water. Then PC for 60-90 mins.
Personally, I think its worth the investment to get a PC rather than do PF cakes. Stuff grows faster too.
