if my words offend you then maybe you should take responsibility for your emotions

if someone told me i need to humble myself...if it was a stranger...Bill O'Reilly...if it was The Situation from jersey shore...I hope I wouldn't say or think "who the fuck do you think you are?!?"

I hope I'd stop and reflect on myself and be gracious.

to get offended at someone for telling you you need to humble yourself is staying caught up in the competitive world and society and taking it as an egoistic challenge to your social rank in the hierarchy--its being focused on the person saying it rather than the actual message. so then yeah you need to get over yourself.

i had no intentions other than amusing myself with a very nonchalant/silly joke

but interestingly enough

you took it pretty seriously

The point of my first post is this:

It does not matter who the messenger is if you are told you need to be more humble. It does not matter how humble the messenger is. The humbling is not towards the messenger or a person anyways.

To react defensively at the messenger for saying such a thing is a sign that you should humble yourself as this defensiveness was provoked since you do not want to give up your positioning in the social hierarchy to feed your soul, indicative of a foolishly  prideful ego.

Too proud to beg but you still need it so instead you play social games to get it and take it.

Sure it does; how else do I know whether or not to trust that what the messenger's telling me is true?

You are not trusting the messenger, the messenger is just reminding you to trust what you already know in yourself.

I don't necessarily need to be more humble; hence my point that the messenger needs to be perceptive enough to know whether or not I do need to be more humble.

I think it's an incredibly safe assumption to tell anyone on the planet they should be more humble.

Meh, I don't think Krishnamurti, Mooji, Gandhi, Jesus, Buddha, Mother Theresa, etcetera needed to be told to be more humble... also I am sure there are many individuals on the planet who have too little pride/confidence in themselves as is, and who need to become more assertive and less humble, if anything.  I'll agree that the majority of the human race probably needs to be more humble, but my point still remains that the messenger is important because they're the one who's assessing the humbleness of the person in question.

Edit: anyone else get into a weird state when they repeat a word too many times in a short duration?  After a while the word starts to lose meaning, almost like a mantra: humble humble humble humblehumblehumblehumble

Like I mentioned earlier in the thread, there are 2 types of pride. 1-being the master of your domain like the lion (iron in Zion) and 2-there is being the master of anothers domain like the ape (the Man in babylon)

Not being assertive now enough does not mean you need to be less humble, as you're not necessarily humble now (and there is no such thing as being too humble), you could still be possessed with ego but someone else has established dominance over you so you are simply submissive. One is in your minds relation to others (submissiveness/domination) and the other is your minds relation towards the spirit. I think one can always connect stronger with the Spirit which is why I think it's a safe bet you'd be right if you said that to anyone (tho Jesus was definitely up there in terms of honoring the spirit).

Messengers channeling insight onto the mentally adopted burdens placed on the spirit have only received this illumination because they have humbled their mind to identify needs of the soul rather than identifying desires of the ego which are typically working on a level, subtle or pronounced, to promote their position in the hierarchy (which is IMO to establish the most the most social security in order to get the best possible mate or mates).

The more scheming "inhuman" minds can act and fake respect of the soul in order to gain others faith/trust while their mind is still working in the background not to do good as is the illusion of the intention it's created for others perceptions but to gain more for itself or maintain what it already has..
