when i first started.....i quickly went out and bought jar and of course they were the wrong type......i have 1 pint regular mouth jars....they are about done and luckly no contaminations.....(good so far for a noob) i did 6 jars and 4 are touching the bottom of the jar but not covering the bottom yet......the problem comes when i need to remove the cakes......(if they dont slide or come out the bottles which i dont think they will) should i break up cakes in the jar then use with a casing..........i really rushed into things and didnt read as much.......i did eventually get it right and got the right jars.....but i didnt want to throw away all that good stuff........HELP PLEASE

Which tek are you following? Most likely, you can crumble the cakes in a plastic bag and then spawn them into a bulk substrate.

If they don't shrink up enough to slip out of the top, I would go ahead and lightly crack the jars open to remove the cakes as wholes. This seems as if it would give you a higher chance at getting fruits at the cost of your jars rather than wasting all of your substrate and spores.
However, I am a complete novice and I wouldn't take what I say to heart if it doesn't sound like a good idea to you!

Do what you can to save the jars. They're useful for grains in the future (if you stick with it and 'graduate' to bulk techniques).

I'm assuming you have quart jars of rye, wbs, or some sort of grain?? If they're grains just scoop them out w/ a clean spoon. I hope you didn't do quart pf cakes. If so I would prob use a knife to sorta cut the cakes out of jar. Not sure if a spoon would bruise pf cakes? What were your plans for fruiting if you had bought wide mouth jars? I would never ever break open a perfectly good jar to get spawn out.. Work smarter not harder! Good luck!

i am using a shotgun style fruiting chamber.....i have already redone everything with the right 1/2 pint wide mouth (using BRF tek)....i just keep the quart jars to see what they would do.....now they ready to birth and no contaminations.....still have a week or two to go as the bottoms of the jars are not completely covered yet..........do i need to wait until the jar is fully colonized before i crumble up...i would like to get them in some recently purchased spawn bags...? any thoughts
