Last week a buddy and I made some tea, it was excellent. We turned 5g of shroomies into powder with the coffee grinder and put it in a pot of hot (not boiling) water and let it steep for 10 minutes. We used the shroom water to brew a French press full of Yerba Mate and let that steep for 5 minutes. Then we had our first glass, and poured another press-full of hot water. Not shroom water, but the remnants were still in the French press. We let that steep for 10 minutes and drank the second glass.
I was feeling the effects before I finished the second glass. Since it was a day trip the Mate was a nice touch, adding the slightest bit of clean energy to the trip.
Then we watched The Departed, which was excellent to trip to. Then we went on a walk to another buddy's (I love nature when I trip), which turned about to be about 3 miles away. I was still feeling the effects mildly 7 hours later, and the peak was intense but enjoyable. Definitely something I'd make again.

but what if they are as fresh as fresh can be? I have read that it takes quite a bit more when they are fresh because of the water weight.
Fresh (picked) is about 10x the weight of dried shrooms. You can make the tea with equal weight water to the mushrooms. Cut them up, add some citric acid (or lemon juice) to the water and bring them to a boil for a minute or two (won't hurt them at all). Steep, strain, enjoy!

oh and also, how long should I boil the water, and at what temperature? and i don't boil the water WITH the shrooms in it am I correct? I just boil water, put tea and ground up shrooms in tea strainer pour water in the strainer and let it sit?
Boil the water at 100C at sea level, that'll work OK , and WITH the shrooms IN it for best results. No harm comes to your alkaloids...

What properties of citrus make psilocybin more intense?
Acidified water extracts the psilocin as well (which neutral pH water will not do.) See THE MUSHROOM ENTHEOGEN: The Measure of the Mushroom where he's working on the extraction teks... This works better with fresh mushrooms due to a loss of psilocin in drying, as it's less stable than psilocybin and oxidizes easily. The best tea comes from just-picked fruits, as they will also degrade slowly even under refrigeration.
It's the Primal way, tried and tested for, uhm, a long time anyway.

DO NOT BOIL! Too much heat will degrade the psilocybin.
Sorry, complete BS...the urban legend that will never die. Try it and SEE!

Yep, the same kind of earthy flavour. Please post back your results.
I plan this for a nice summer trip: fast one-two days, and prepare the mushrooms in a light miso soup with some shiitakes and tofu
