Grow log! (monotub, wbs to poo) (Pins! 4/17) 1

Starting a grow today, my first real one (I've done PF tek before, but had to be stealthy, so results weren't optimal). Prepared WBS quart jars using Doc's WBS tek, waiting for them to cool so I can inoculate with PE (from Ralphsters).
http://img571.imageshack.us/i/img20110315180652.jpg/
I also bought an 18 gallon (I believe, I got rid of the label) Rubbermaid clear plastic tub with an opaque lid that I plan to cut and put clear plexiglass in. I plan to spawn 5 quarts of wbs to 20 pounds pasteurized poo (ordered pre-pasteurized from high mountain compost). I wasn't really sure how much volume 20 pounds would take up, so I'm hoping that my tub isn't too big. Anyway, updates will come as they happen or as I have questions
Edit: Update 3/20
Seeing growth in some of the jars, here's a picture of one of them:

I plan to shake them up on Thursday or Friday before I leave to go camping to speed up colonization, then just bide my time until they're fully colonized. I got the pre-pasteurized horse poo in the mail the other day (20 pounds of it), I'm hoping that it'll hold up for a couple weeks until the jars fully colonize... I didn't want to pasteurize it myself for my first grow (and my roomie probably wouldn't appreciate me cooking poo on the stove)
Edit: Update 3/23
I got impatient and decided to shake early. Wasn't sure at the time if it was a good idea, but now:

Definitely seeing growth all over the place! All of the other jars look similar to this. I'm going to let it colonize over the weekend (hopefully that won't be too long, as I'll be gone for the whole weekend) and spawn to poo as soon as it's fully colonized.
Edit: Update 3/27
Just got back from camping, the jars are almost fully colonized. Here's one:

So after all the jars look fully colonized, how long should I wait before spawning them?
Edit: Update 4/5
Made two tubs. Here are pictures of one of them as of now:

The other tub is colonizing nicely, but still has a ways to go. This tub was spawned on 3/28, but it wasn't mixed as thoroughly as it should have been... it was layered and evened out a bit, but it didn't end up very even because I was worried about sticking my hand in there, even with a glove on. I did mix the other tub much more thoroughly after I realized my fears were unfounded. Hopefully this tub finishes colonizing quickly so I can start fruiting it!

After you shake them they usually take off like crazy. Good luck.

I don't remember exactly, but it was about five days I think.

I just started my first WBS grow too! I'm still waiting for signs of myc... good job on yours, though!

Good luck on yours too!
I also sterilized a few jars for ATL#7 spores, which aren't here yet... (should be here Tuesday). I've heard good things about sclerotia, can't wait to try them!

Not really an update, but a question. Here is a picture of two of my jars:

All of the other jars look similar to these. Are these ready to be spawned to poo or should I wait for a couple more days?

Thanks, I'll wait until they're more fully colonized then Just finished making my monotub today, the wait is killing me haha but it will definitely be worth it.

Note that ur compost is going to be POO ONLY! Most would recommend some additives. Especially verm to retain water. Im having that problem now. With grain spawned to straight poo. And 20 pounds will maybe just do it. I used 3 pounds grain with 7.5 pounds poo n made 2 inches in a 10 gallon tub. Just poo won't go to far. Maybe some straw to bulk it up.

Um jar on the left is NOT ready. it doesnt look like the myc is clenching onto the grain yet. Once that occurs its good and ready. They need another week.

I grossly underestimated the size of 20 pounds of poo so I ended up spawning my three most colonized jars to 10 pounds of poo in my rubbermaid tub. I'm going to go to wal-mart tomorrow and get a 60-quart tub and make another monotub to spawn the other two quarts to when they finish colonizing. Probably not going to use the entire 10 pounds of poo I still have, but I'll fill it with spawn/poo until there's a sub depth of about 4 inches. I'm glad there's this much poo, I wasn't looking forward to only having one tub (don't like to put all my eggs in one basket)

You Got 3 quarts and 10 pounds poo to do a 4 inch sub in a 18 gallon?
