The Mimic Octopus
The first creature they show is able to emulate the forms of several different kinds of poisonous creatures, and the one near the end is just cool-looking. Evolution may explain some stuff, but these animals are showing off some pretty amazing abilities, does evolution and the science of adaptation account for this display of.. intelligence?
and How does a butterfly get an owl face on it's wings?

Perception and integration, a butterfly? How the heck?

That is completely insane.
Still though, it's not really a stretch to think that evolution did it... if you factor in the idea that butterflies at some point had a huge number of predators, a huge number of predators, who were small enough to be scared off by the familiar sight of their own predator an owl, and the short lifespan and gestation period of a butterfly... well, the leaps of thought get shorter and shorter, the more factors you plug in.
Evolution is the intelligence of nature.

Evolution explains all of that.
A mutation will occur and usually be detrimental to an individual. If, however on the small chance the mutation is beneficial, that individual may pass the genetic basis for said benefit to offspring and this will spread over time. This can account for owl faces and intelligence. Genetic drift may also allow random inert changes to drift in one direction or the other.
Thanks for asking though.
