pet store coir, or hydro store coir???

getting ready for a bulk grow, everything is ready to shoot up, so im sitting here thinking about the near future. im planning on making a bunch of monotubs, and the teks ive seen all call for coir.
is there any difference between the pet store coir and the coir sold at hydroponic stores? i would think that the stuff at the hydro store would be better suited for my intentions. but i haven't seen anyone using any "botanicare cocogro" or anything similar.
is it all the same, or is one better than the other for growing mushrooms? i've noticed the hydro store has not only bricked up solid blocks of coir, but loose coir in bags. i want the best for my grow, so if i have to spend more by getting it at a hydro store (online or off) i will.

If you are buying from a hydro store make sure the coir is untreated.

Trichoderma, the bane of mushroom growers around the world is a very beneficial organism when it comes to growing marijuana. The trich protects the root system and protects against invasions of other harmful fungi, bacteria, etc.
Talk to the people in the store and read the labels.

it'll say on the package
if says "100% Coco Fiber/Coir" or "Organic" then you're good
if it says additives, or Trich Added then its no good.

Also note that hydroponics stores usually have a higher mark up on goods and products. Your best bet would be to look around gardening or nursery stores for coir bricks. I can get a massive brick of 100% coir "potting soil" from the garden center at a local store for like $2.50 a brick, or goto the hydro store and pay 8-10 dollars for the same amount.

Bro a brick of coir from the PetStore is like $5 at least most places, unless you order them online they can be like $2-3, but you can ALSO get a bigass bag of what's called "Organic Coco Husk" which isn't exactly coir, it's just big pieces of coconut husk in a bag, not a brick, but a huge like 20 quart bag for a couple of bucks.
People are gonna probably say I'm wrong and tell you to get bricks, but the Husk works REALLY good too if it's organic and you're on a budget

LOL. after reading this thread I've come to realize that I get a really good deal on coir. I pay $6 for 3 bricks @ the local pet store I'm going to see what a "case" will cost me this week...
O yea, to the OP, I've used both pet store & hydro store coir. I go to the pet store now, because the bricks are $.50 cheaper...
