Mississippi (the real south)
    #14124384 - 03/15/11 10:10 AM (12 years, 11 months ago)

dont care who bad mouths MS, they know nothing of it. anyway......

I was wondering, any fellow southerners or better yet anyone from MS?

When I originally joined in 2003 I met two guys who ended up being nice assets and friends. So any southern gents or ladies, post up!

I am near Jackson Metro Area, but live mainly up north near Southaven. About an hour from Memphis,TN.

heres a pic to represent MS wild hunting.

I'd make some extract out of all that so I wouldn't have to eat so much nasty mushroom, but that's just me.

Also, I was born in MS and lived there at different points in my life.

all yall sound like good people. glad to hear that some stereo type of MS isnt still full blown, do you wear shoes? do you have elevators? etc. fuck yeah we got the same shit. madison and ridgeland are very very very nice. anywhoooo......yeah the haul was nice, and you did not have to really eat all that much mush. there is a tek somewhere that gives ya a recipe for Andes Mint Choc cubes....it is WONDERFUL. if you like a taste of mint. you just grab some ice trays, weigh out 50g dry, double boil the mint choc chips (one bag), then fill up i think it was like 24-30 chocs you can get with 3.5 goin in each give or take.1-.3 or so. oh and georgia isnt the fake south man! yall are SEC.

i was just pokin fun at you for saying that MS is the "real" south. i know how southern GA is. i live about an hour from UGA. shit gets really insane when it's a home game against the Vols.

i saw the Dawgs lose to Arkansas last year at Sanford Stadium. the only UGA game i'd ever been to. man, that game made me :facepalm3:

probably would have been better if i was high.

IS that a scottie on your avatar? i own two. a fat black one named chunk who is fierce and her smaller sister who is brendel named venus. they kill possums, raccoons, snakes, and a squirrel so far in our backyard. our old scottie named ty ate like six baby rabbits heads off and brought their bodies to our back door. i love scotties, except former pres bush didnt deserve one.

oh yeah alls good. the south is the south, im rambling and buzzed.
yes being blitzed or not even high at a huge football game is wonderful.
i attended ole miss back when and tore down the goal post when they upset florida.
ole miss sucks now, football program is terrible, baseball is okay, basketball is okay.
just abuncha rich little kids mainly, but it is the most gorgeous campus i have been on.
with the most abundance of beautiful southern belles ohh myy...

oh yeah, my best friends family is from Meridian, MS and his cousin (beautiful woman that she is) went to Ole Miss. saw plenty of southern belles whilst hanging around Meridian.

in fact, Spring is on it's way and that means sun dresses and skirts begin to populate Southern college campuses everywhere. time to start roaming around the UGA campus :psychsplit:

Yo buddy,
I'm from the Mississippi gulf coast, Pascagoula exactly, and am new to the mycology scene.  anxious to get out there and have my first big find.  have been hunting 6 times thus far. havn't found a single cap.  most likely due to the timing in which the hunt was undertaken.  we've been pretty arid for the start of the season leaving me only to be disheartened and dismayed at the site of the several fungi-free fields around here.  its been around three weeks since last hunt.  luckily, we've been blessed with two consecutive days of rain. the humidity is at 85% and today was mostly sunny.  my front yard is covered with mushrooms leaving me to think that our local pastures are sure to be inhabited with our special friends. i plan to go later on tonight. prayign that tonight will be the night in which i have my first significant find.
OP- have you had any luck this season?  how are the fields around jackson?  I also had a question about searching without any lights.  I seem to have a lot of trouble seeing without using a flashlight.  the two hundred cows "have a cow" when they see us.  they are extremely loud- and the owner/caretaker is very close to which we are searching.  any tips/ tricks of the trade u care to share on this matter? any info would be greatly appreciated. as i am novice to hunting.. (for now  )

  best regards,
    disgruntled german jew

hey man- i went hunting 2 days ago in saucier.  found what appeared to be an incredible spot.. mushrooms as far the eye could see and whats even better is that it was competely out of the sight of the caretakers house or any other roads. my friend and i picked roughly 200 caps.  found around 6 differet varieties of shrooms.  most looking similiar to our common psilocybe cube.  however, none of them bruised blue, except one.  later that night we had our friend come over and identify them, as he is very experienced. and  determined that about an eighths worth were good out of the loot. we proceeded to boil the load and made tea out of it.  didnt feel a god damn thing.  just made my friend and i shit out our stomachs the following morning.  so disappointing.  i mean the conditions were perfect.  cow shit abundant as could be. and enough shrooms to feed the entire continent of africa. but only found one that met all the characteristics that of our psilo cubes possess. where area do hunt at? have you had luck this season?
