I feel ashamed showing you all these pictures, all cakes were a tragedy.
Moldy Amazon jars
 bye bye:

Tasmanians:
 crazy mold!

This was my first attempt cultivating, I've been reading on how to improve techniques to not get contamination in my jars. I plan to have a glove box for next round.

Did you PC the jars for 45 minutes? Pretty crappy luck to get 2 bad syringes.
What lids did you use?

I know a glove box isn't necessary but I'm going to make one anyway for next round for a less possibility of contamination.
I used a pressure cooker for 60 minutes. I flame sterilized the needle in between each jar for the Amazons. The mycelium in Amazons started turning blue/green when the mycelium first started to show.

This happened to me and I figured it was a bad syringe... Did you put a layer of vermiculite on top in your jars? I cant see any in your pictures.

I dont see a dry verm layer in your jars, that might of did it.
That dry verm layer acts like a barrier for contams.
Sorry for your loss, read some more, be more sanitary and get back at it you'll get it.

There was a layer of dry verm on top. I noticed over time the cakes started shriveling near the top and the verm started falling in between the empty spaces. If you can see in the pics of the Amazon jars how there's dry verm on the sides of the jars, I think the contam shriveled up the cake some, just my thought.
thanks for an input.

You could always try this experimental tech with couple of your next jars. It's fast and easy inoculation.

Definitely don't give up. Once you have a successful grow, all the heartache will have been worth it.
