Are they supposed to be half full like that? Deep verm layer?
Also, cool jars.

They don't look fully colonized yet, so leave them for a bit still. It's ok for them to start pinning in the jars. Once birth they will grow like normal

how ever long it takes to fully colonize. if they dont fully colonize you get less product. then you aren't getting the most for your efforts. when the jar is full of that white "stuff"- its time! RE: your layer of verm may or may not grow white "stuff" on it.

It looks like the verm has run down the sides of the jars. The BRF cake probably shrunk due to the mycelium having consolidated and caused the verm to trickle down the sides. This has happened to me quite a few times.
Not sure though...
Does the bottom of the jar look completely colonized when looking underneath it?
How long since you shot up the jars?

Jars look OK....Its not a deep layer of dry verm, its just dry verm that fell down the sides. Thats what it looks like to me

I HATE when verm does that. Maybe medium verm would prevent that..

Ok... I began the innoc. About 2 weeks ago... Maybe a bit more or less..the top layer of Verm is about an inch thick. I do see however that the bottom of the jars are complete. Entirely. And the colonized area towards the center of the jar seemed to shrink a bit and Verm did trickle a bit on the sides as mentioned... So now what???

Just play the waiting game bro, I let my jars colonize for at least 3 weeks, normally I dont birth for 6 weeks after inoculation. By then I normally have a couple pins starting or just about to.

5 pins? the myc might be fighting a bacterial contamination... Those jars just don't look fully colonized to birth to me... but then again like I said, I let my jars sit forever as I have 100+ jars of different sizes. I just keep filling them back up when they get empty
Best way to learn is to make a decision and see how it works for you. In my short time with mycology, I've noticed that what works for someone might not work for anybody else. There are some universal truths, but the majority of mycology world is closely related to your personal experiences of what works and doesn't

Put up some pictures from different angles to see what's happening.
If the cakes are not fighting off contams, then I think you are right on track. Give it 5 to 7 more days, for the mycelium to really permeate the inside of the cake.
It seems you have a fast colonizing strain there. From spore syringe to full colonization in two weeks is great timing. 21 days more or less for full consolidation is about as good as I've seen with BRF cakes.
I suspect that you will start seeing pins in 3 to 5 days from birthing.

Hey, if it's not completely obvious, you've grown mushrooms!

Whenever you can't wait any longer, birth them as normal, wash away any uncolonized material, then dunk and roll and proceed as normal.
