This holi, go smooth with bhang! March 15, 2011 - Times of India
Holi, a festival of colours can never be complete without the traditional bhang. The Holi-bhang has a special character; it not only escalates your spirit, but also sets the mood to make a splash with colours.
Legend has it that Lord Shiva loved to guzzle bhang, and hence the tradition of mixing bhang on this crazy day of colours. Typically, thandai or bhang is made from the leaves and flowers of cannabis plant, and is capable of giving you a daylong hangover. But if you don't want the dizziness, headache and pangs of nausea associated with excess binging on bhang to come in the way of your Holi celebrations, here's help.
Too much is always harmful Unlike alcohol it can give you a hangover that lasts for over 12 hours. Raj Kumar, bartender with Hyatt Regency, Delhi says, "There are many incidents of people getting hospitalised on Holi due to bhang hangover. It is important to know your own body capacity and not follow others blindly. One should be cautious to never mix bhang with alcohol. And of course moderation is recommended."
Tips to avoid a bhang hangover - Don't have it on empty stomach. You should have had a solid meal before guzzling bhang. - Avoid it if you have a history of heart disease, high blood pressure or nerve disease. - Never mix bhang with alcohol. - Control your intake. Unlike alcohol, bhang kicks you up slowly and lingers on for much longer.
And if you are already nursing a bad bhang hangover, here's advice - Have a glass of lemon or orange juice with water. - Drink plenty of water - Say 'no' to coffee - Tuck into fruits such as kiwi, bananas, strawberries and apples. - Make sure to keep bhang glasses out of reach of children.
With this taken care of, you are sure to have a happier Holi.

made this once because I was sick and couldn't smoke. Probably about the highest I've ever been. used a whole eighth of dank and It was pretty intense. Borderline uncomfortable. I can see how the spinning feeling and anxiety could scare some folks to the ER.
haha i might do this for Holi this year.
