Grow help for a heated water grow.

I want to colonize some jars using a PF Tek and I don't have a very consistent or safe temperature to store them while maturing. I am thinking of submerging them in a plastic bin in heated water. Is there a specific tek name for this? And are there any pointers for this?
Also, any good water heaters/aquarium heaters to suggest?

Yea, the tek is called "a bad idea". What temps are you dealing with? Most people assume their place is told cold when its really not. Anything above 55 will be fine. Ideal colonizing temp is 75-78. If you want to raise the temp, use a space heater for the room, or put the jars in the cooler with a jar of hot water, which you can occasionally replace. Anything higher will encourage contamination growth.

Don't sweat the temps during colonization as long as you (aka human being) are comfortable. A bit cooler temps lead to longer colonization times, but not so much longer as to go out of the way to correct it.
Definitely don't submerge them. They will stall immediately if they cant dispel the extra CO2 that builds up during colonization. Don't use a space heater. Even with tightly sealed PF-TEK jars, you can dry them out. Water vapor will steadily escape the jars and they will stall. Finally, though it's seldom a factor with jars, heat increases the likelihood of contam.
One of the things I think folks do most commonly to negatively impact their yields is to birthing too early. Some of the best PF-TEK grows I've ever pulled off were ones that were forgotten about during colonization for extended periods of time.

I colonize in 50-55 degree weather, don't sweat temps

Agreed.
My BRF jars have been colonizing just fine from 60-75* (fluctuates a lot). It has taken them a bit longer (than other's at higher temps) to reach 100% but it honestly hasn't been that bad. It only took a month to get to 100%.

i used a water ben incubater and did`nt see any drastic results realy, if you have temps around 65-70`F you should be fine.hell, 50`F will work just takes more time. now i only use the incubater to speed up Recolonization of bulk grows but it does rase the stakes of getting contams- i havent had it happen yet but their is a chance it could. do what you want to do man, its your grow- dont be skerd to experiment a little and find what works for you. ill bet you, your situation is not the same as mine or anyone else`s.
