Decided to grow but have a few questions:)

Hey fellow shroomers:D I decided recently to start a nice little grow and just ordered some spores from Sporeworks and I have a question that I wasn't sure how to search this so I'm sorry if I'm double posting. My question is I keep hearing that your grow keeps growing for up to 2 months? Whats the least this would yield(approx of course)? and is there a certain method that would be best for this? I was thinking about doing BRF cakes over a layer of perlite. I'm going to have 3 separate containers with 5-6 cakes in each. not sure what strain yet because i chose the option in Sporeworks where they choose what to send(most likely overstock syringes) for only 9.50 each.thanks in advance for any help:)

Your questions are some what confusing....A general estimate for each cake for weight is like 1 to 10 dried grams.....can be less or it can be more Hard to say though.....
Have you watched the PF tek videos yet?

and "strain" is the incorrect term...It is "variety"...Don't worry about the variety assuming you are doing cubensis....They are all the same as far as potency. I've heard Penis Envy is somewhat harder than others but I have never grown them so don't quote me.....

sorry that my question was confusing. and thanks for the speedy reply. I heard somewhere(might have been shroomery) that even after you're able to harvest the first flush, the mycelium continues to produce pins for 1-2 months? it sound too good to be true i just wanted to clarify. and yes i did watch the videos:)

Yes, it will continue to produce. The mushrooms use up all the water so eventually the cakes will need to be hydrated again....So this process can go for a few rounds. Eventually the mycelium becomes too weak to produce fruits or it will become weaker and contamination will overtake it.....

yes once you harvest your flush you can dunk for anywhere from 6-24 hours ( i normally dunk for about 8 hours) and put back in fruiting conditions and get another flush or two..

It takes some experience to get a feel for the weight of a cake. If its dry and light you dunk it for 24 hours. Once in a while I get a cake that is still heavy with water, in this case you don't dunk....

I bet your friends are happy to know you! once i start the fruiting process for my current batch, I'll probably get some blue meanie and golden teacher spores from a friend and inoc 16 or so jars for 3 bulk substrates. I will learn the trade haha i'll probably start a grow post once my spores get here. i'll be sure to stop by and comment on your pics.
