Strange visual effects from dextromethorphan
    #14122963 - 03/14/11 11:53 PM (12 years, 10 months ago)

I have had two separate effects from dxm that people don't seem to get except for 2 other people. I want to know if they are common/and or normal effects.

The first is a strange effect for dxm, the second seems more normal.

1. Basically it looks like there are diagonal lines like this \/ in my frame of vision one in each eye. They are blank spots. On both sides of the line i can see but the lines are black. Sound farmilliar to anyone?

2. This one i feel is prbably more common. It's the same effect as when you cover one eye point at something then cover the opposite eye and your finger is not pointing in the same place. ex. I'm staring at the toilet. It keeps flipping real quick in my frame of vision from right to left. Basically just like before the toilet back faces left, then it flips to facing right. back and forth 15-20 times in a few seconds then just stops.

Now that i typed it out i'm pretty sure the second effect would be the flanging/stop motion effects.

Doesn't sound too odd.

I'm not sure if I no what you mean by the second one.  I know I've looked down at the toilet on like 1000mg and it was shifting left and right real fast (as if viewing from left eye then right eye).  I was like oh should I pee left in right so I don't miss then? jk

I've never experienced diagonal lines but it sounds normal for the dxm type of visuals.

Yes, especially when your tollerence isn't super high, you will get flanging of vision (looks like playing a game with 5 frames per second).  You will notice loss of stereo scopic vision(you know you have problems when you have to cover one eye to do work at school).  And mattalic sounding echo's and distortions of sounds.

These are all effects you get basically when you get into the 3rd plateau.

Man I wish I could still get effects like these but I would need like 2 grams of dxm with my tollerence and it would make me retarded for days, would be unpleasant probably.  Trying to stay away from dxm because I can't even have fun with a tollernce like this.  You should consider that if abusing dxm to often and also the possibly of brain damage.  Dxm has helped me overcome social anxiety but a side effect from overusing it might of made it hard for me to say/find certain words and talk to people easily plus being slower mentally, though I always had slight problems like this and add.

I hope that was a typo or a joke ^. If it was not go do some research for a little while b4 taking it you will save yourself alot of trouble. Usually though 2 bottles of zicam cough mist max (~800mg in a shotglass of liquid)gets me both of the above effects. I have alof of experience with dxm though. 3 years+ of use and around 300 trips.

a little off subject but does anyone else feel like dxm is not enjoyable until your speech comes out sounding like a foreign language and has to be almost dragged out of your chest? idk if that will translate from my thoughts into the same thing in anyone elses but usually when i say stuff like that around other dxm users they immediately know what i'm talking about.

I like your description of dxm. everyones seems to be different but when theres a communication bridge you know right away lmfao.
I have alot of experience with dxm, and never really liked anything under 3rd plateau. OMG. theres the communication bridge. I just overcame social anxiety after my last dxm trip. I was almost silent around anyone i didn't know my whole life and now all of a sudden i'm not like that anymore. I want to quit too. I just feel like it pulls me back in, after the last time though i didn't feel that same pull with dxm so i feel like there was a reason why i had been taking it so long.

Sounds about right now that you say it that way. I never even thought of that. The best way to explain it is v face. that was my communication bridge with the other kid that got it. Basically it looks like when you are sober and you touch your fingernails together in a v shape hands facing in and put your hands up thumbnails on your cheeks, tip of your nose about in the point of the v. I will take a picture doing it real quick and post it here so you can get a better understanding of it.

I just did it and yep, I'm remembering how DXM would make my vision. I know EXAAAACTLY what you mean. And I agree that DXM isn't fun unless I'm speaking like "jarbbda daujgr gruuuuuuuughhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh" and straight up robo-walking down the street with insane double chameleon vision.

Nowadays I feel retarded for a few days after off a low 2nd plat dose and I don't want to think how long I'd have to spend recovering my brain to operate at 100% from a high 3rd/4th plat.

Thats the communication bridge i was talking about. If you explain things from a dxm trip to people that havn't done it they are like wtf? but when you have done dxm you pretty much instantly know whats meant when you hear a good description of something.

I took what i hope to be my last dxm trip for good last week. I had disassociated vision for almost 3 days after that but no other negative effects. I kinda like the dxm hangover where your thoughts are blank except for whats happening now because i recently started getting over nearly complete social akwardness and anxiety thanks to dxm. the hangover stops my inner monologue from repeating 500times and overthinking what just happened in the split second it takes me to reply to something someone just said to me. I usually just feel happy and content with everything the next day due to that effect on me. I did think i had brain damage though for a while until the visual disassociation wore off at the skatepark today.

Anyone else feel like the conversation never ends when your talking about dxm? I constantly find a new way to explain something about the high. I feel like theres a mental connection between all dxm users who like the drug.

Likewise. I used to seriously refer to DXM as "playing Final Fantasy with my mind" because that's the best I could describe it as. When you're 17 and you're a huuuuuuuge video game freak and you take DXM, wander around a vacant parking lot at 2AM and witness the silhouette of trees turn into giant elephant/gorilla dexgods that actually battle you... and wander around so many different landscapes it's.. so unreal.

I wish I was in a position to take a hiiiigh dose of DXM and return to those days. I know a high 3rd plat would bring the magic back, but sadly I can't afford that dextardation lingering. :sadyes:
