I was pretty much all A's in everything except a couple electives. I couldn't figure out why engineers needed to know the mating habits of ring-tailed baboons so I got B's in Anthropology and History, etc.
I have finished most of a masters in EE, but I'm thinking of going back and getting a Phd., seriously considering it but I don't know if I can handle 3 years of mental torture.

Lmao I don't know how it is in the States, but up here in Canada grades in university pretty much don't mean shit. Especially once you've been working a couple years and have a good job reference.
It always amazes me people think that they need A's to get a job - 99% of the time your prospective employer won't even ask for them.
I've got a few good job references with mediocre grades, and good interview skills - that's what you need.

my story is kinda similar to DieCommie's in that my grades fluctuated here and there and were never consistent. i failed miserably throughout elementary school, junior high, and high school. i graduated high school with a 1.8 cumulative. my highest grades i ever had were from the classes i took at a continuation high school after being expelled from my original high school, aka they were a joke. luckily i was allowed to graduate with my class and at my original high school and did fairly well on my SATS, or else i wouldn't be in college right now. freshman year in college i completely failed my first quarter and was also kicked out of the dorms. i ended up taking a quarter off and taking a few community college classes here and there, all of which i got A's and B's. eventually i was readmitted to my university on the grounds of returning from a "leave of absence" and retook a few courses and started to work my ass off. now i'm looking at a 3.2 overall and a ~3.8 for my major (i think.. i'd check but our server is down after ~1am).

I had an interview for a part time English lecturer at the M-State satellite colleges and they didn't even want a transcript.
So much for that 40 fucking grand.

You forgot an option for post graduate training.
School and classroom learning have always come natural to me. Although I've always applied myself and put forth a lot of effort. Looking back, going through a zillion years of school is the best decision I've ever made.

This was/is the same exact way I am...
I never ever studied and almost always damn near aced my tests.

.
This is also the type of student I was up until I graduated high school. I did my homework during class, never ever studied, and ended up graduating with a B+ average. I started college thinking I could just slide on through, but found out the hard way that I couldn't get by without doing the work. I made it through my first year with a C average, then got put on academic suspension after my second year. I took a semester off, went back, and made it another semester before going back on suspension for a year. I finally got back on track during year 4, and finished up my AEM degree after a grand total of 7 years (5.5 years of classes + 1.5 years of probation). I think my final GPA was around 2.6 or so. Not great, but not too bad for an Aerospace major...
Looking back, I had a great time in college! I don't have any regrets other than when I look at my student loan bills and think about how much lower they would have been if I would have stayed on track and passed all of my classes the first time I took them...

Word. I had a contract that every teacher would have to sign to make sure I was in class . Same for all the alternative classes (and school) .
Past three days i've been noticing we are pretty alike

High school i was classified as a problem child. Could hardly sneak by with a passing grade. College was the complete opposite, Nothing below B's. Seems it was about perspective; Self motivation versus forced ritual.

high school i had like a 2.5 overall
college is a 3.15 (still not great) but the improvement with all the additional freedom showed me my true potential

Poor student in high school (2.5 GPA) but I did well enough on the ACT to get into OK colleges. I went to a VERY well respected high school, however. Second go around in college right now. 3.4 last semester. Doing worse this semester so probably a 3.0.

High school straight D's.
College straight A's for 1 year.
Dropped out because the wife and I couldn't afford it because we had kids. I didn't want to be there honestly. I was doing great but I would rather be anally raped by a rino than sit in a classroom for 1 more second. I am not a classroom type of guy at all. I can't sit there in a setting like that and learn. I zone out and my mind is a million miles away.

I was a straight A- or B+ student. Easily could of been a straight A+ student BUT:
When a class had like 10% given to attendance and 10% given to homework, I accepted from the begining of the semester that the max I could get in the class was 80%.
I always used to pass without homework and very little studying...
Sucks I won't use the bachelors I graduated with lol.

I never thought elementary education meant anything (in terms of honor roll). Then again I was homeschooled till mid high school.
(I laugh my ass off when I tell people I was a homeschooler, they always say "It makes a lot of sense").
